Thanks for all the help guys, problem solved it was one of the mods.

Just checked out the Deadheim "mod". It is actually a mod pack that adds dozens of mods to the game. One of them is probably responsible for that.

Put the trophies in one of your shorcut (1 to 8) and then press that shortcut while facing the altar (that's why the tooltip that pop up when facing the altar says shortcut 1-8).

It's most likely the mod that is responsible for this behaviour. I would try to turn it off (through a mod manager like ThunderStore, IMHO a must have for every mod user) and then try again.

You have to place two deer trophies on the altar.

Actually, 3 unless that mod somehow changes the requirements. (it's 3 trophies in the vanilla game)

I think it use to be 3, now it's 2, try it

I'm gonna hazard a guess and say maybe you need to read the runestone at the alter that tells you how to summon
