And the purpose of stakewalls is?

Like unless I'm supposed to make my base 8tiles wide lol... the stakewalls which to me look like defensive walls, are useless lol. Why are they in the game? Please someone describe to me how they should be used. Because putting a wall around my base isn't helping anything lol.

EVERY SINGLE INVASION, the mobs just spawn near my animal pens, and wow, as I'm running over (because shooting them isn't enough to get aggro), they're slamming down 100s of damage lol and deleting my livestock.

And don't make the pens too big :P then they just spawn inside with the animals lolol.

This is like the 17th time I will have to go find new wolves and boars and drag them to my base.

It's. Not. Fun.

Every single aspect of the game is fun, except this.

PS, a moat meets the same issue. If there's like anymore than 4 tiles of terrain, SOMETHING is gonna spawn within the moat or walls.

I'm sure there are people who haven't had this issue, but this means that its just predetermined spawn points. But how am I to realize where the spawns are? Just build a temporary shack every 100 meters and wait for invasions whi

AND YES. I HAVE WORKBENCHES.

I can't even imagine progressing past Bonemass and dealing with even more events with harder monsters.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong? But I don't feel like I am. It feels like intuitively its a problem.

Like I have to spend 30 minutes now gathering animals again. And trust me I'm not motivated to.

"Then don't worry about taming animals."
Well ya see, I like that part of the game :D :D

Yeah, there must be something wrong.
I walled and workbenched off an entire plains strip for a flax and barley farm, and when I was done, absolutely no plains type mob spawned around the place, my crops were safe.

After letting a few spots not be covered I've taken to equipping the hammer and placing a few posts along the perimeter of the workbench coverage area where it intersects the adjacent workbenches. It gives a reliable account of coverage. No problems like that since.

I've had some pretty large bases, and they have all been sealed off with walls and moats. Never had an issue with a mob spawning inside of a base. 30+ mods installed.

To answer the original question, anything that comes into contact (including players) will be injured by stake walls. You can place them around your walls to keep the smaller enemies from attacking the walls themselves. I like to put some in the moats to kill the ones that fall in.

Why would you let them spawn this close? To prevent this simply build in a manner that prevents mob spawns inside these areas with enough workbenches.

Any tiny spot not covered by a workbench area will allow spawn groups in.

You either have gaps in your coverage or mods have messed up your game files.

If you are sure you have enough workbenches and every spot is covered inside the walls and animal pens and gardens then I suggest you ...
Uninstall the game
manually go to the folder and delete the entire game folder
Reinstall game.

If you have badly corrupted files or out of date mod files and uninstall will not remove them. An uninstall only removes files the game thinks it put in. You must manually delete the folder after the uninstall.

Test game function.

WOlves

Tame wolves and let them go around your place, no matter if anything is spawning, they will not last.

Sounds like you need to learn how to make proper defenses. Also, place workbenches in your walls or wherever else you can put them out of the way.

I'm not sure what the problem is for you, unless you have gaps in your workbench coverage that's letting enemies spawn there.
Workbenches should be providing coverage to EVERY part of your base inside the walls, which only allows enemies to spawn outside of the walls.
That's what the walls are for, to give you a first defense against event raids.
And no, the only predetermined spawn points are the actual, physical spawners that you'll find in Black Forest (Greydwarf spawners), Swamp (Draugr/Skele/Surtling), etc.

Edit: Forgot to mention that when you're raided, you should always move outside of your walls so as to prevent a section or 2 being broken and enemies flooding in. The protection they provide should give you enough time to react to a raid and move outside of the walls, pulling the enemies to concentrate on you instead of your base.

Yeah I've placed workbenches to where their radius' overlap. And thats exactly the approach I was hoping I would be taking. To have an event trigger, and then rush to meet them on the outside of the walls. Yet every single time, I catch the event text popping up on my screen, so I rush out from wherever I am to find them already b-lining for my animals, and of course when its Trolls they seem to already be on top of them.

I just don't even know at this point -.-
