I love, love, love this game. And really like most of what H&H added.

But have to agree with RNG_Wizard above... this update was *very* underwhelming given the time from announcement to release. Seriously underwhelming.

Example.... they added angled core wood, but only 2m logs? Where are the 4m versions? I thought this was a significant building / home expansion.

Perhaps if Iron Gate had been a bit more forthcoming with community communication during development, people's expectations could have been tempered a bit. They should look to the dev team from an indie early access game like Satisfactory and their weekly sessions for some lessons.

They could have done much better. Though I do like the difficulty ramp-up, at least in the early levels. Haven't progressed past bronze age yet on our restart.

I haven't been able to play due to extreme performance problems after the H&H update, but do you have any specific reasons for why it sucks? I'm genuinely curious since I haven't been able to play it; after updating and finding the game now runs at 5FPS (I enjoyed 120FPS average before the update) I can't revert to the old version to continue where I was last week.

How come? I'm enjoying the update a lot. The new content is a bit scattered for my liking, but overall there is enough for me to replay the game and enjoy it.

Did you run in Vulkan before? Make sure it's that version, I've found Vulkan to give better frames than DX. Only reason I use DX over Vulkan is that the discord overlay doesn't want to work for me with Vulkan Valheim.

My guess, it's another "stamina nerfed, no fun now" reason. I've done reasonably well and need to watch stamina drain/cost and regen more closely than before as well as watch stagger meter thus far I've pretty much only died due to my own stupidity and not because the game is much too hard.

It's not even that bad. I'm sure the devs can just add an "easy" mode for all the crybabies that don't want to engage their brain a bit to balance out their stamina and health.

It's the same content in a new hat. It's a nice hat, sure, but what we needed was new content. New challenges, new places to explore, new secrets to uncover, this is what we hunger for. Doing the same bosses in the same places with slightly different food buffs does not satisfy that hunger.

It doesn't suck now. We're just still bored of it because it's not experientially different.

It's not content related to the game that's why I'm curious for gameplay details. Strictly just very serious problems running the game on hardware that reliably ran 120+FPS before the H&H patch now gets at most 5FPS. 15 minute loading times where before it was 15 seconds. Other games on this rig have had no change in performance in the meantime. ( I don't want to hijack this thread)edit: I don't care at all about Vulkan or discord, I just want the game to play the way it did last week before I clicked update.

I don't think that merits saying that the game sucks though. It's just... the same. Did it suck before? No. Does it suck now? No. Keep in mind that at launch we got more content than what most early access games would give in half a year of development, and that's being very generous.

Although, I do believe that the Devs should come out with a clearer road-map with some new, rough time-frames for us to expect. Leaving us in the dark is never the way to go, especially if the content being provided isn't the most substantial update to the game and has potential to underwhelm.

I don't have a horse in the race since I still can't really play H&H due to the sudden unplayablity of the game on my rig. But this sounds like a problem with management of expectations from the devs.

I know they're a small team and trying to grow but let's face it, they really dropped the ball when it comes to COMMUNICATING what exactly to expect in this update; and from what I see in videos, it's about 30% of what people were really hoping for due to the way this patch was talked up. They also put a cherry on top of a sh.t cake by not including a true set of full patch notes/changelogs, so it's still hard for a lot of people to know exactly what is a bug or a feature now. Yeah, they didn't do this the right way but maybe they'll improve before people give up on the game.

Shifting defensive stats away from stamina as well as making most stamina foods both tedious to farm & less optimal for their heavy penalty to health compared to alternatives hasn't been entirely great. Streamlining food so that we basically only eat meat is nice for the simplicity, but there's little reason to use anything else; alternatives are weak and more difficult to acquire. Also, mead is even more powerful than before with the tweaks to health & stamina, so have fun filling your inventory with healing & stamina meads as well as biome specific ones as well, clogging up space and adding extra carry weight.

New changes to player stagger makes fighting fast hitting enemies, hard hitting enemies, or groups of enemies less fun and more tedious, especially when trying to do corpse runs. Parry builds in particular suffer because of the stagger changes. Fighting groups of enemies in general has become much more difficult because taking a hit or even parrying often staggers you. Bows are now even more viable just because you can't as reliably hold your ground against groups, and nearly every enemy spawns in groups.

Weapon changes were pretty much universally a miss. Though mostly inconsequential, the battleaxe was pushed in the direction of the Atgeir's role but just does it worse, and the bow feels clunky and lethargic despite still being the most powerful option.

Tar enemies combine some of the most annoying mechanics including projectile spam, high damage, high spawns, and slowdowns. Similarly, gathering tar sucks.

Most of the content additions were pretty cool, but the tweaks and reworks were largely just annoying.

Compelling argument. I don't see how anyone could possibly dispute it.

Or aren't you just burned out from having played a lot before, and you can't stand that H&H is not the content DLC you had wished for Christmas? In the later case, it's understandable, anyone would be disappointed.
