dont go to new biomes way over your level if you are that broke. prepare a lot more than that. there is no specific rebalancing discussion that is going to overcome your current approach to this game.

If mobs are noticing you when you're on the ocean- you're sailing too close to shore. Sail past them from a bit (way) farther out. I've sailed all the way to the Ashlands in a raft (trying to bypass the dungeon runs for cores) and made it without incident. Also mapped some coastlines doing that as well. Just the coastline.

Its just how the AI works. You can kite enemies into another biome to draw aggro and get them to ingore you. Swamp is easy as its usually by a black forest. Deathsquitoes are the same. They will go toward other biome mobs. You can also dodge roll the deathsquito poke. Its an easy way to kill them with low level stuff. Roll the poke and swat.

I learned the hard way to never sail past a Plains biome with only the 25 base health...

-Its rough to say; but if you are at raft - level tech, you have no business anywhere near Plains or the high seas. Skeeters can outrun a Karve too, but I *think* you can outdistance them in a Longship under full sail.-

Deathsquitos are easily dealt with by any bow and any arrow, but they are very much instant death to anything short of Iron/Silver armor and Mountains-equivalent food.

*edit* ahh I see. Its definitely a rough corpse run. I pretty much always make a portal to any new island. You can also always make a decent sized outpost and a bed each time you land somehwere, too.
