they were nerfed atleast once from my knowledge

i heard they used to make NO noise and all of a sudden you are dead lol

I used to block and stab them but now the tower shield knocks them back too far so I have to throw my spear

You know rolling gives you i-frames, right? Dodging it's attack by rolling towards it is extremely easy and a club should one-shot it.

As someone else pointed out you are invincible during the roll animation. But i never use that. I just draw my bow and wait until they make their approach. BOOM one shot. Don't need fast reflexes.

They're also quite easy to parry, but a quick riposte is needed to catch them before they fly away

Squito regions are still something to avoid while corpse running. I think that's their primary purpose. That and harassing new players on boats. (Run to the front and use a shield, they bounce into the mast and die)

Thanks Max, I sure was surprised to live. I guess since they added a bunch more monsters to the plains the deathsquitoes didn't need to be instant death anymore

The deathsquitos were indeed nerfed once since the Feb. release.

During these last 10 months many people have complained about deathsquitos and claimed they are too powerful etc, but in almost every case it eventually ends up being revealed that the player was not sufficiently geared up to be there and / or already low on HP from lack of keeping themselves properly fed, so OF COURSE the squito is gonna 1-hit them.

When properly topped of with foods and have even decent troll armor, it is possible to survive their attack and killing them is child's play as long as you don't try to run away.

I honestly don't know as had the game only since H&H. I read a lot of Deathsquito horror stories so was even surprised that I could take 2 hits and only lose 50-60 health or so, but that was silver armor. Still from what I read I believed they would still 1 hit me.

Its possible that you got lucky and it hit on its lowest portion of its damage range. I'm sure some experts will clear things up before to long.

Deathsquitos do 90 damage per hit. Armor subtracts from the damage received directly until the armor value equals half the damage, and then it falls off proportionally.

For example, if you were hit by an attack that does 100 damage, and you had 25 armor, you would take 75 damage. With 50 armor, you take 50 damage, and that's when the math gets a lil funky. At 100 armor you would take 25 damage, if I'm doing the math right.

Basically, at 40 armor you should take 50 damage, so that's correct. I do think Squitos have been nerfed a couple times at this point so they're much more manageable nowadays.
