Shouldn't matter as it's super easy. Just melee him dead.

You can 2 shot him in max gear.

Range really is just a waste of time even with new armor because melee is just faster and more efficient on any creature that is not flying. Melee needs a damage nerf honestly.

Perhaps if you're playing alone. With 3 people the enemies scale and entering the swamp with only troll hide and bronze gear makes it a challenge.

Chop damage =/= slash damage , elder power just make your chop damage x2
Just use a sword and roll when that thing gonna hit, that thing is the slowest thing in the game to attack so its very easy to dodge

To be fair, melee has the risk of getting hit and possibly dying (trolls perhaps at start, end game 2star Berserkers) so it's high risk-high rewarding style, as opposed to ranged, with low risk but lower yields..
I think it is good as it is, just an "option" perhaps for someone who seeks a challenge would be nice. I've played game in maximum difficulty, maximum effort and it was something else, "explorer/easy/newbie" option gets boring..
