Super New Player tips

I've just started, but I am getting super hooked. This is my first survival-type rpg game that I have got into. I've been playing a couple weeks, and I have spent about week of it with this mantra: to play this game is to know corpse runs.

I'm finally starting to get more comfortable and I'd like to share some super newbie tips:

- Number 1 Rule: When you make noise (like chopping down a tree) you attract enemies. If you have nothing, pick up branches and rocks instead of punching the trees apart if you don't want more enemies
- You can zoom in the 'm'ap, and add label markers by clicking one of the bottom icons and left double clicking (such as where your houses are, points of interest you'd like to remember)
- You can get rid of the dozens of death markers on your map (after getting your corpses) by right clicking on the corpse icon
- You do not increase in hp, but food is hp. As you progress in the game, you fight tougher monsters and harvest new biome foods that increase your health more than early game foods
- When you cook meat, you can see it scorch for when it is ready to pick up for your inventory. If you let it burn you can get coal

I have more tips, but do not want to give any spoilers. There are many guides online. I'm finally at a stage where I wake up, eat a few foods, come back at night, cook my food and have a daily routine (hunting deer at this stage).

Oh, EQ corpse runs. Stark nekkid. Get a monk or necromancer to pull your corpse from the middle of the mobs. I knew someone who went into Plane of Fear right after it opened and he'd just hit level 55. Of course he died and the experience hit dropped him down to 54, so he couldn't even get back into Fear to recover his stuff. Imagine trying level up from 54 to 55 (one of the worst Hell Levels!) before your corpse rotted. He made it, but barely.

I've done plenty of corpse runs in this game, and none of them were tough except one, where I had to call the BRS to deal with the **Draugr camping three(!) of my tombstones in the swamp. Since then, I figure I've paid my dues in that regard and just go into fly mode to get my stuff.

Only thing I wish about losing skill points, is it would be nice if you just lost skills in the weapon you had equipped at the time, plus run and jump. Or maybe 3 highest skills. Losing them in swim, blocking and sneak is a drag. Cause I got swim and sneak early game and don't tend to level those at this point.

Have to say though, that after 1st run through swamp, by then you know the subleties of the game. Then dying rarely happens until Plains. Only if your out at night and ate junk food or forgot to eat. Depends on how much risk you want to take on.

I've been killed 5 times fighting the first boss and noticed the corpse run icon. I played EQ a lot and hated dying! What does it signify? Is it just more speed to get back to your grave to recover your stuff?

Press Tab and look for the bird picture on the right, click that and it'll give you all the info you're looking for. =)

Glad to hear you are enjoying the game. I have had it since 2 weeks after launch and am still enjoying it as well. Ignore the naysayers and continue thy quest.
