go stand behind 1 pillar of stone and kill the boss without even moving once

you dont need to kill bosses in order u can go after any of them whenever u like

or ... just log back into your server and get your key lazy ! xd

mmm im a noob to the game but i already killed the swamp boss... tip for the elder mate... dig down near the alter preferably down a little and a little cave under the alter so you can get hp regen from a fire and repair from a bench... the boss will move in view of you but wont beable to attack though the tenticles might spawn in the hole youve dug u should have enough time to recover hp if not a single fire arrow on a good bow will kill it... goodluck mate

Elder is easy, just keep behind pillars and move when he makes roots spawn. No need to build workbench or ANYTHING to prepare to fight him. If the Elder isn't easy for you to beat with fire arrows, you're deff not ready for the Swamp alone.
Cook better food & get all bronze gear. You cannot rush other biomes if previous boss isn't easy-ish for you.
Just like people complaining about the deathsquitos, they are suppose to be easy, block with shield and hit once. If it still does big damage to you with shield block, go back to mountain and craft better gear.
Key is food & gear. Skills can be relatively low but if equipped properly, you shouldn't have problems.

I can throw you a key easily enough if we can coordinate somehow.

Did they nerf the ability to just cheat/ spawn in items in single player? I've been away for a few months.

you definitely have to move from pillar to pillar because the elder will walk to you and stomp sometimes, other times he will just shoot his tentacles and roots. also before the fight dig a deep hole under the boss arena, drop a workbench/bed/fire
