There were others but I figured one instance of necromatic magic would be enough to dispel yet another mystified thread essentially saying;
"Magic? Vikings? Vikings and magic? Magic and vikings? Magic vikings? Vikings casting magic? WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥ IS HAPPENING!?"

"Wait... wait... hold on... hold on... so you're trying to tell me that a *viking* that has passed into the afterlife can fight an ice dragon with magic instead of a magic axe? How does that make ANY SENSE!?"
ok, done now.

Is this including the Draugr? A literal reanimated body from Norwegian lore. Anyway its a video game not a history lesson, they can add whatever the hell they want.

"So hold on... you mean to tell me that while I'm fighting animated trees, lizard-ox hybrids and giant mosquitoes for the glory of a war god... I can run into a reanimated corpse and even make my own? What idiot wrote something so ridiculous and out of place?"

And being picked up by a giant booba bird after we die and then dropped into Valheim to prove our worth to Odin and become his einherjar makes logical sense in comparison? interesting, I must have missed that part in viking school.
On topic, you go to Valheim after literally dying and being raised from the dead, pretty integral to the whole Odin/Valkyrie/Einherjar/Ragnarok Norse mythos thing one would imagine.

The OP is obliviously trying to farm steam points via clown awards. Doesn't really explain such an ignorant comment otherwise.

it makes as much sense as giant trolls giant flying insects the literal LIVEING DEAD a LITERAL DRAGON and building pyramids out of tetris blocks with a wodden hammer.
its the same ♥♥♥♥ as people asking why they added magic with mistlands. just because its cool and because enemies can do it aswell.
the game isnt realistic. it was never meant to be realistic. its a survival game with survival mechanics but its definitly not meant to be REALISTIC nor lore accurate in any way.
heck you have a polearm bringing down lighting strikes on enemies.
youre a viking warrior yet you cannot swim for longer than 60 seconds and you drown in a pond.
need i say more at this point? these threads are just silly at this point really.

are you assuming that this 17th century poem is mirroring any historical value or anything of relevance with the asatru belief system ? "Wait... wait... hold on... hold on... so you're trying to tell me that a *viking* that has passed into the afterlife can fight an ice dragon with magic instead of a magic axe? yes, exactly draugr Is this including the Draugr? A literal reanimated body from Norwegian lore. Anyway its a video game not a history lesson, they can add whatever the hell they want.
you were told of stories of draugr not to mess with the dead, going to valhall wasnt something trivial like not ever bringing dishonor to yourself, your family and proving yourself worthy "but i guess someone will just raise you becuase magic"
what is actually indicating that im trolling, maybe you should stick to twitter or reddit when you think the voices in your head matter just because you received an upvotes once

youre just conflating crafting systems and replayability variables with actual inconsistencies in asatru and old norse values it makes as much sense as giant trolls giant flying insects the literal LIVEING DEAD a LITERAL DRAGON and building pyramids out of tetris blocks with a wodden hammer.

The idea of the whole 'zombie' things that we think we created in the modern day we get from the vikings. Its derived from Norse mythology. Look up the term draugr (singular) draugar (plural)
