when do they plan to improv basic combat

the weapons cant swing the distance you or enemies get pushed back once hit, random high level enemies spawn in every low level area so respawns on solo maps are reason enough to just scrap the entire game, enemies literally spawn immediately behind you during fights at night. all of these were problems when i started playing 2 years ago and it seems like they've only polished the cooking sim half

the only problem I have is the mess fighting with some weapons on slopes.
high level enemy spawning? Good! Today some furbys dropped off some spare black iron and a group of oozes came by to make sure I had plenty of bombs & food mats. Later one sad troll gave me some fishing bait.

as far as I know, apart from the swamp for a cool trophy & extra chains, nighttime combat is to be avoided in tough zones. Even with ML stuff a ** fuling in a group of 3 will mess you up if you get jumped. Its like the first thing the raven says on day 1: night is dangerous.

respawns, though? Enemy come to noise. They spawn far out, but if you are playing whack-a-dwarf that troll 200 yards off is going to come check it out.

9999 meters hearing range is a bit much....just saying...

The weapon hit knockback, I'm cool with, It should definitely do that. (Though I could do without the ragdoll corpse flying so much farther than a normal knockback when you kill them.) The parry knockback is a different story. When you perform a perfect parry you shouldn't be penalized by having to reposition and hope you can swing again before the stagger expires.

Never once had anything spawn in right behind me. Sounds like you just aren't being situationally aware enough.

I do really wish they would fix the verticality of the game. If your knife passes through an enemy it should hit that enemy even if they are a pixel above or below where you are standing. It's even annoying when it happens to enemies, it's no fun beating them b/c of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game design.

It seems it might be case of personal likes.

Wandering about at night can be hazardous, but we have the option to sleep through the night and thus avoid any nasty surprises we might encounter in the dark.

Weapon/shield push as a trait is a good thing. If you use it right it helps you control the fight and even escape if you bit off more than you can chew.

I only play solo, but I have to admit I don't really understand what you are saying about respawns on solo maps.

Again, much of what you don't like have options you can take to mitigate some of problems. but only you can decide if those options are things you want to try.

I get the feeling that you are still at meadows and not comfortable with black forest mobs :steamhappy: If I'm wrong; what are you doing running around at night? That time is spend gardening and tending to your herds that both should be situated at meadows.
Don't worry, creatures will still try to murder you at later biomes :D Deer, birds and fish; these are the things that do not try to do you in.

What comes to this recoil from a hit... say somebody pushes you really hard, you recoil and need to take a step back futher than what the reach of pusher is. So it's just natural that the one hit gets pushed back.

The wild world should be bit scary and challenging.
Don't worry! Your later playthroughs are going to be much easier since then you will know what enemies you can take on at different situations and when to just run away

you are right. for a layer of the game that is interacted with constantly, there are fundamental problems with combat. knockback is a pain and almost turns successful parries into a drawback, because the enemy can get pushed off ledges where they can't be hit at all. aiming vertically always favours enemies. enemies do not contend with stamina or fall damage as the player does.

these issues are fundamental in that they (a) affect the entirety of the game, and (b) punish successful actions (you basically always want to strike a parried enemy, but there are frequent circumstances in which you can't).

they should be fixed.
