If you put your bed in a different area, do I have to walk all the way back to store my items or do I have to create a new base in every area?
P.S. is there some sort of Teleport to your base?

______________________________________________________ Solo.. its playable. Game doesnt have any respect for the players time tho.
And losing all your inventory on death with no one to help you recovering can be
excruciating.
I have been able to duck in and duck out.. with my inventory.
And I made double 'kits"
Never had to do it till I got to the mistlands.
And then only had to do it once. Once you learn the attack patterns of the mobs you are good.
Im an old dude 44yrs old.. I got it.
Solo'd everything.
Alright, you convinced me.
GAME IS UNPLAYABLE SOLO

Enjoying it solo. Worth the price just for deer hunting and sailing. Both awesome simulations. Tip: hunt upwind, as deer can smell you coming if they're downwind of you.
I have always thought I didn't have the reflexes to do the fancy moves like parry, block, dodge, etc. But I am having to learn them in this game, and doing better than I expected. As the Martial Arts masters say, the best way to block an attack is not to be there when it lands. And when that attack is coming in from something big and nasty, the dodge is your best friend.
One last tip: There is no skill tree; the more you do an activity, the more you level up. So run and jump and sneak a lot. When traveling long distances, I use "Scout's pace": run until your stamina is at 50%, then walk until it recovers. Jump over things in your way.

It can most certainly be enjoyable for solo players. But it does require some patience. As of now, the maps are HUGE and traveling long distances with boat takes time that you spend doing pretty much nothing. The maps contain enough land and materials to support 10 players 5 times over so I personally wish we could have options for smaller maps for solo play.

I just solo'd my entire way to defeating the queen today. I beat all the bosses first try without death including the Queen.. which was terrifying. I did die a lot to other mobs because I wasnt careful.. or was testing my limits.. which is insanely cool. Remember what the crow says at the start of the game.. prep yourself the max for every boss battle... have the best food and equipment. Build a massive base with all the amenities. Dont rush.. its super fun. Enjoy

________________________________________________________ It's good for solo if you are a careful and strategic player. It's not good if you like rushing through. If you die your stuff stays there in a tombstone, which makes it challenging to get back solo, but you can usually sneak and grab. If you get stuck, check the guides. Be aware that every new biome will make you feel like a newb all over again, which is part of the appeal, but don't think that your armor from the last biome will let you walk around without worrying.
You probably will build more than one base, but teleport materials start being available in the second biome.
I've played it solo the whole time. I'm up to 900 hours now, after multiple runs. The large procedural map means that exploration will always be important no matter how many times you play,
Added:
Meadows>Black Forest>Swamp>Mountains>Plains>Mistlands Don't go out of order.
The pickaxe and the hoe are the two most important tools for base defense.
Don't land your boat in the swamp.
Let's see...there's another one...barricade around Moder's shrine as if it was your base.
I think that covers the main points that people get stuck on.
What this dude said .. and more....
Go slow and careful when you enter a new biome... or you will get owned big time. =) Chip away and gather resources. I would say the next level shield is a must and learn how to parry and dodge. If you dont learn that early on you will get rocked and not progress.

It's fine for solo players. Can be fun with others if you choose.
Your bed is your spawn point if you set it your spawn to it.
You do unlock teleporters later on. They have restrictions on certain items being teleported, but you can get around that with mods if you choose. There is also an update coming sometime soon that will add the option to ignore the restrictions to the base game.

Although there's teleporter available at some point its recommended to work with different bases.
