My most hated monster in this game
I'm still on the Iron Age, so I've only seen around half the monsters in the game... but what is my most hated?
The trolls? Not really. They put up a good challenge and they're not too common.
Abominations? Same as above.
Leeches? Annoying but they are easy enough to sidestep.
No, my most hated monster is the most common. The Greylings.
First, they're EVERY F'IN WHERE. You cant go five seconds without running into them in the Meadows and Black Forest. Usually a big group of them.
But that's not what makes me hate them so much.
What makes me hate them so very much is this "HEE HEE CHASE ME CHASE ME" crap where they just run big circles and make them you chase them down and swing at air half the time.
Is the AI pathfinding this broken for them, or is this intentional to make the player blood pressure spike?

Be a nice option if you beat a boss the lower level mobs leave you alone.

I have a solution for you to cure you of the Meadow Greyling hate.
1: Get 100 in clubs.
2. Get a club iron or beyond.
3.Approach Greyling in an open, open space. Seriously, really open.
4. Wind up the special...
You have now invented Greyling golf. Its hard to hate a monster you can shoot across the sky like a rocket. Hole in one if you can get it to fly above the trees and land in the water furthern 50 feet away! Also enjoy practicing on the Black Forest ones!

Greydwarves in general. All types. At the point you reach the swamp they're just annoying. Don't add any fun to the game... don't add any challenge too. They're just pests that interrupt your play even if you just chill in your meadow base and try to build some pretty buildings/town/docks etc...

The bad news is they still push you around and stand in front of your axe to lower the damage you do to trees. I just want some wood, leave me alone.

The answer is.... Drake.
No doubt about it. Just as annoying as greylings and greydwarf, but they have that horrible shriek. They do no real damage, but they knock you around so, between that and that shriek you can't just ignore them for long.
You can't just swat them like you do greydwarf either. You can to pull out your bow, wait for them to come into view, and then finally shut them up, but not without one last shriek!
Then the next one comes by...

I also find the greylings very annoying. I like their design but my goodness sometimes it drives me crazy when you can´t have even 30 seconds without being harassed by them lol..

Lox. These bumbling morons will smell you form like a mile away, walk to investigate, and then break down your walls in order to get to you. And they're not something you can really deal with without food.

Gjall. Garbage near useless drop and @ 1,500 HP with the ability to fly and deal heavy damage to structures they are just menaces.
The Ticks are more valuable than them as the Blood Clots are used in some good stuff—sometimes I'll leave a Gjall alive for awhile just to farm more Ticks for Blood Clots.
EDIT: the AI thing where they run around you for a bit is to actually make them easier to fight as it prevents them from aggressively attacking you nonstop. You'll find the same with the Fulings—they attack then run a bit to give you breather. Annoying if it is just 1 or 2 but can save your life if you pull a swarm of them.

The greydwarf lore runestone states thus: "It should not walk but when the night comes it walks." So yeah.
But as you said, you will run into them in meadows and forests... not so much elsewhere in the world.

The problem is the AI behaves the same way whether you are early game or mid-late when Greylings are instakilled. Early on their stupid behavior is really necessary for the noob player to have a chance dealing with them.

Just ignore them until you get a large group of them. Take out your aetgir, use the special attack twice, then pick up the stuff you want and keep going.
