dead raiser skeletons useless against seeker soldier (and starred others)

they die fast does no meaningful damage, and hit slow, so seekers always hit first, they feel like a practical joke for lesser biomes use only.
the only good thing about them, you can fish in lesser biomes without interruption (exept mistlans of course).
maybe they eat fish?

A good way to level up blood magic rather aggressively would be going to a drauger swamp spawn point and covering up the spawners so that your 2 skeletons can constantly fight draugers and the odd skeleton that pops up. Make sure to use the protection staff to keep them alive (though exp is only given if the player loses the bubble - not the skeletons).

I will agree that the skeletons are rather lack luster. I wish the devs added like 2 skeleton variations for enemies and the summons that have fragments of armor. Both mountains and plains could use such enemies when they spawn during the night or in the odd mountain ruin.

Make sure you have a rest spot though if you are farming drauger spawns otherwise your exp gain will be bad.

Tom if you're open to mods here's the mod I was talking about. Actually makes minions rather useful. Once again modders to the rescue.

Per the wiki[valheim.fandom.com], XP will be added for a fraction of each sword or bow hit from a skeleton and if I'm reading the growth formula correctly (good chance I am not) it takes a few more than 5K total hits to reach level 50 (unrested). But again it does seem to be worth it. The skeleton archers are pretty deadly in ML at level 33. Confess that we did get a LOT of help from a pair of dvergr mages with their rogues against a soldier and a gjall. Curious if I could use the protection bubble to protect a friendly rogue?

It's too bad you need to eat 2 health foods to parry stuff without getting staggered. It would be fun to parry enemies and let archer skellies get staggered damage going.

The skeletons have too much trouble following you...even in dungeons where you would expect them to be most useful. I don't think they need to be any more or less powerful...just better able to follow you.

And I have to second your thoughts about the Dvergr mages. Holy cow, can they do some kickarse stuff! I want their staves. I will gladly trade mine for theirs...

Changing sword skeleton for new type that would wear tower shield and take aggro from mobs so we can for example hit their weakspot at the back as solo player would be useful.

I would use just blood magic alongside standard weapons, but the activation cost of dead raiser is too high to do with one eitr food.

IMO the skeles agro range is quite short. By the time bow skele starts firing it's almost melee time. They're useful for leech farming I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️.

I've had a little different experience. Learning from earlier posts I had taken the skeletons on training missions to earlier biomes and leveling blood magic rapidly. Greydwarf spawners and spawners in draugr villages are very good for this. By the time skill level reached 33 I took them on wolf and lox hunts and all they needed from me was keeping the protection bubble active and the archer one-shot drakes and deathsquitos with ease. Then we went into ML and they seemed to enjoy 1-star seekers but soldiers did need some help from my ember staff. I play solo but as others have written you can also protect your mates in coop and get even faster blood magic growth. Also eat 1 health and 2 eitr foods and keep some of the eitr potions with you and of course the full eitr weave set. Also they are good for guarding you as you mine soft tissue and iron in ML since we all know how the locals are drawn to your mining activity.

I've started building the staffs, but I don't see myself actually using them. I don't have any problems surviving without them, and I can't see adding multiple staffs and addition food types to my already full inventory.

I was already planning on skipping the dead raiser. I really don't see the point.

Yeah, it's unfortunate, but if you've played enough mmos , like myself, you kind of expect game logic NPCs to just be bad in general. Like, no developer seems to have a grasp on useful minions. They always end up getting stuck on terrain, hitting the wrong target, chasing the wrong thing, being too squishy to micromanage, Upsetting the wrong NPC who happens to be way more powerful then you and kills you (whoa that got personal) Etc. Etc.

I went into the skull with the expectation that the skeletons would be little more than a distraction for the enemies and that turns to be all they're good for. Maybe with mods that can be different. I know there's already a mod that uses the deadraisers mechanics in a staff that lets you summon all types of friendly npcs like dragur and such. The trouble is the game doesn't have any targeting commands at all, so you're at the mercy of whoever the skeletons decide to fight with.

I use skeletons in greydwarf farm to level up my blood magic skill. Combined with protection bubble, they are practically unkillable and they level up my blood magic faster than i could level it up myself using only protection bubble.
I hope they will be stronger at higher levels of blood magic.
