i like to pick a spot that has 2 trees joined together on a hill and go tree bowling, i get masses of wood trying to get combos :P

i don't recall a boring way, so i can't help ya there :P
I was happy enough with the way things were made and upgraded, thought having to use more bench attachments for making and upgrading items a clever implementation and adds more depth to the game than a simple one shoe fits all.

depending on when you finished will change the 'stuffs' you've seen

Ofc it's still the same. But there is a mod where you can costumize the grind. Valheim+. Like increasing wood, stone etc drops. Easing the awful stamina system. Making food an actual good mechanic without stats running out while buff still lasts.

Removing all the needlessly punishing mechanics like not all drops floating in water. Increasing workbench radius.. and so much more. You can design the number game how you want with it.

You are right. That said. Even without mods. The problems you seem to have are easily solved by .. more gameplay xD. With upgraded tools and character .. farming wood and stone doesnt take long. The early game ofc revolves around very boring grind. But once you have a good axe.. stamina food and know how the game works.

Hacking down trees is kinda fun.. with the physics and such.

If you play enough of the game you will be able to upgrade to better tools..

Games like this.. starting out is always a bit of a grind tools wise,

Kill the first boss, get the pickaxe, go mine up tin and copper, craft a bronze axe, chop trees down a little faster .. keep playing, make it to the swamp.. upgrade to iron tools, chop n mine even faster .. so on and so forth,

That is pretty much the way these types of games work, You start out with low grade tools and weapons, by end game, high grade tools and weapons, go from 10+ hits to fell a tree and collect the wood, to a few swings at most with the high grade tools, If you are annoyed about that and find it rather boring .. this game it not for you

The game's play mechanics and survival model of play remain unchanged.

Rune from 2000 was an Action-Adventure game. Two completely different genres of games and thus a false equivalency.

I'm sorry that your wants do not match the reality of what this game has to offer but Im sure you can find something during the steam sale that does. Good hunting to you.

Very interesting. Now.. tell me where the real life lvling up mechanics are so I can also hack down trees within seconds.

Heaven forbid you have to work for things for reward.

Nothing has changed since launch. This is clearly not the game for you, and that's ok.

This game genre isn't for you. Avoid survival/crafting games in the future. They are ALL like this. Surviving the grind IS the game.

While the user-defined tags are... questionable at times, seeing "survival", "open world" and whatever the monstrosity that is "open world survival craft" should have given you pretty clear clue what the game is about.

If you didnt like it 2 years ago you probably wont like it today too. Its still the same game.
No fundamentals have changed in a significant way.

Check out the Hearth update they had awhile back. Those are technically your new things to play with. Everything else is when you hit the Mistlands, and that's a long way out if you start fresh. Otherwise it's exactly as you remember it.
