Well, it’s a survival game, so you need to protect everything you own.

only need one 2 star boar to make news ones. So after your first 2 star you should have bred it with any other variation. chances of 2 star offspring is 50%. So at most should have been maybe 30-90 minutes to get to two 2 star pigs.

Then you can just build a roof over them, problem solved, also don't AFK at your base. Use sneak and AFK somewhere else.

Happened to me, too on my first playthrough. I was sad to lose my two star boar, but lesson learned. Simply putting a roof over their pen before going to fight Bonemass will prevent your piggies from getting blown over. But no way of knowing your first time :/

On the bright side, you're about to unlock foods that will significantly decrease the amount of boar meat you go through.
