I don’t think we have the ability to plant berry bushes yet.

It would take away from the need to forage and thus the associated risk involved with any trip outdoors.

There's no risk in foraging any type of non-plains berries once you have a solid set of bronze equipment. None whatsoever. This is a spurious argument, at best.

You don't as yet. Carrots, Turnips and Barley can be grown though. It's worth making beehives as well as crops, because the Honey is classed as a food as well as being used in a couple of recipes.

What if you find a nice big island in the middle of a large lake. planting crops would be great.

Currently the game will not let you do that. You can suggest it in the Suggestions forum, as some players already have.

There's a mod out there for it, if you've seen players do it before.

I don't mind the *idea* of foraging, but realistically it's so random and the longer you spend in an area the higher the chance a troll pounds your berry bushes into oblivion. Maybe if they grew back semi randomly until there was a certain amount in every whatever measurement system the terrain uses, it'd be better.

Or use portal to a nearly BF or meadows area where is a lot of bushes
