It is rather annoying. And if you think that's bad, try going for a corpse run in the mountains.

I'd advise you to make an emergency portal somewhere nearby if you are in a dangerous region, at the very least this shortens the commute. Then wait for daytime to actually go get your stuff. Probably the best non-cheat way of doing it single player.

Some people recommend having backup sets of armor for use while retrieving gravestones, but this can very easily snowball...such as if you get killed with the backup set, while trying to get your main set back. Now you have to retrieve two different sets. Then there's the fact that you cannot instantly pickup your grave items if you already have a bunch of stuff in your inventory (such as the backup armor you are wearing now), which becomes even more of a problem if hostiles are still in the area, making it logistically impossible to deal with...unless you think you can kill all the enemies in the area with inferior gear compared to the one you just got killed with. Overall, not a good idea.

OP- wraiths only come out at night and night is 'thee worst times' to try to recover your stuff many more enemies spawn vs daytime.

I usually find all my chains in the crypts.

Spawns kind of come out of nowhere by definition.

Wraiths can spawn at night anywhere in any swamp.

Lucky you, every time i try to find these mobs i spend hour searching with minimal spawns, i suggest upgrading your armor and using health potion if you having trouble staying alive, the game is pretty easy if you are prepared, just do not get over confident when you truely start fighting hard mobs

Swamps at night provide you with many "bonuses", such as a combination of Cold and Wet debuffs. Your stamina is going down the drain.

Only do a corpse run at night if you are super close to your grave stone. If not, sleep, eat, put on old gear, grab potions, and then run.

Going at night is just asking for a death loop.

Swamp at night?
Just say no.

Helps to wait for daytime before doing your corpse runs. If wraiths are spawning you are charging into the swamps at night which just isnt a fun experience.

Never go at night... for a corpse run that is, if you are looking for a fight after you are all geared up by all means.
