Items outside of workbench range will despawn in a few days naturally. You could dig a hole away from any base items and toss stuff in there.

Although I admit that the obliterator is fun to use, as long as it isn't next to anything important.

Disassembling / recycling Equipment, incl. a certain material loss, is a feature missing IMO. Please turn the obliterator into a recycler.

Disassembling / recycling equipment (for getting materials back) will never happen because it would get exploited to bypass the "metal restrictions" that portals have.

There is definitely a way to get rid of stuff without littering your world. Thor also has a day job as a garbageman. Take a look at the Obliterator for more info.

there is a way, though i forget the items name you need to build.
just don't build it near your builds as it can damage them.

After you defeat the Elder, there is an item you can buy from the trader. It unlocks something called the obliterator which turns objects into coal. But yes, in general you can't recycle or breakdown things still.
