Why this high GPU load

Why this high GPU load, I'm only in the menu and don't do anything and my fans are getting louder and louder, that can't be normal, even when playing games with complex graphics, my fans don't get that loud,

Actually, VSync tries to limit the framerate to some safe and sane multiple of what your monitor can actually push (0.5 is a "sane multiple" in this instance, and it's also supposed to be capped at your monitor's reported refresh rate). It makes sure that the GPU is only rendering frames that will actually get displayed, while avoiding "screen tearing" that can occur when the GPU pushes a render frame to the monitor when the buffer is only partially drawn.

You want to save electricity? Turn on VSync, so your GPU isn't trying to render 120 FPS to your 60FPS monitor... especially in the menu, where the item count is minimal and the framerate is uncapped; your GPU is probably spamming 600+ FPS render frames of a half-dozen buttons and a campfire.

You might also want to find the actual specs (or better yet, the manufacturer's WHQL driver) for your monitor, so Windows knows its true capabilities instead of using the default "PnP Display" settings. Might make your color and gamma settings work out better, too.

I have limited the FPS hard in the Nvidia settings. According to the overlay, I also have 60FPS in the menu.

It's the same for me, in the game everything is fine, in the menu my system gets very hot and the power consumption is at maximum. This is not normal, should not be normal, even in the alpha!

Oh well, with vsync it's the same! I also do not understand why vsync should generate less graphics load. It's more the other way around normally! In the menu 99% load and when playing 45% load. Not normal!

Because it limits your max fps in the menu which by default is uncapped. You need to limit your fps outside the game if the fan noise an issue for you. It is not dangerous to your hardware at all.

The game is really demanding on the GPU even with the low textures.

Of course, I did that a long time ago. Generally I have this function always on. In the menu I have 60 FPS.
It's not just the noise, do you have any idea how expensive electricity is in germany right now. It will soon be unaffordable!
I have enabled the maximum FPS in the Nvidia settings, for this no vsync is necessary! Vsync only ensures delays of input and screen output. No thanks!

Turn v-sync on. Set temperature limit in driver at reasonable level - Valheim can heat up your GPU to 80+ degrees easily.
