That's one way of doing it.

You know that speed 1 on any boat rows, you'll see the paddle icon instead of the sail, so it will go forward whatever the wind is doing, just not as fast.

You can do a similar trick with the cart. Get in the cart in the water and walk.

To be totally honest, when I first started playing this game I didn't understand how sailing worked at all and pushing the raft and jumping on for stamina was how I used it for a while.

I heard about this guy (that was totally not me), that was live streaming to his friends, and worked his way across a channel to the Elder alter, fought the elder, and decided to make a raft to sail back. He stood on the raft for way too long until he had nis son show him how to paddle.

As soon as he left shore a storm hit, so he tried to sail to a nearby rock and drowned. What at idiot! (tonally not me) :-)

Also seems like a nice way to raise swimming too, lol.

Almost like the time I died across the channel in mistlands and I had to make a second boat to get back there. Then because the shore was too sloped to destroy the extra boat I had to move one like 100 feet and swim back to the other and switch back and forth to get it home.
