+1 This need to happen.
-> the forge should be replaced by the new forge, not a side by side
-> the smelter/blaster should be a replacement, not a side by side
-> and possibly some sort of consolidation of the *THREE* cooking stations, eg give us a dwarven 'range' that can grill on top and bake down under.

Im on my knees beggin for to smelt the other ores. Like seriously, I think its common sense to assume that it would replace the regular one. It doesn't, you need this giant furnace for one ore.
Probably safe to assume in the future there will be more ore that will require blast furnace. Plus, just wait, it gets worse :)

It already exists and it's even available. But technically it's still ashlands content and has no real use in the game at this time.
And considering both the ashlands metal and black metal are both something of fantasy material, it's okay for them to have completely separate processing furnace IMO.

I hope the ashland smelter can let us smelt everything else with backward compatibility in term of quality though still. That would be practical.

Well... personally, what I find practical is seeing at a glance and from distance how our smelters are operating. Even if I'm visiting a base or outpost for the first time, or if I'm looking at screenshots or videos of someone's gameplay, I can tell right away what's going on in terms of their industry...

the furnace will be used for flamemetal ore aswell as whatever deep north ore will be for certain. then both smelters can smelt 3 types of ore. makes sense. balance as all things should be.
ashlands wont add an entirely new smelter. wouldnt make sense at all.
ashlands will instead add the runetable. this will allow some of the new weapons to change thier elemental property. fire/poisen/lighting where shown.

The mistlands machine is for refining magic orbs. I do think that the blast furnace should be able to smelt ALL metal into its ingot forms like you said. I guess at least the blast furnace will see further use in ashlands. Its already used to turn flametal ore into ingots. They have no use at the moment though.

I see, that's good I suppose. I feel it should smelt every tier under it and with less time/coal IMO

The Blast Furnace only works with Black Metal and the "New" material called Flametal ( which I assume will be for the new biom such as Mistlands when they will add the new Forge and stuff). Also, there is a mod that you can combine the Smelter and Blast Furnace together. Basically you can smelt any type of ore in the Blast Furnace.

Flame metal already exists in the Ashlands but as yet has no use. likely not until the Ashlands is finished
