Early game plays the same?

So I started a new save with this update and I have not played since release. Honestly I'm surprised that it feels fairly untounched and nothing has changed. Am I right in saying this update is only for late game players? Most the player base upgraded and progressed and the devs only released content that add's onto the tail end of players experience?

I kinda expected a couple of changes, maybe 1 extra animal, maybe 1 extra building structure to randomly spawn ect. Instead it feels untouched, did none of the updates until now have anything like that? I know they did a food system, a cave, then a new biome. But isn't there small features that should contrast a day 1 player versus all this time coming back now?

For example if you take a year or 2 off away from a EA game normally you come back and you're like "oh that's a new bush", tiny little things that you would only notice after taking a year break for example. I'm not noticing anything like that so far.

Mistlands is all about the mistlands and nothing but the mistlands. (and I guess the fishing changes affect earlier stuff, but that's it)

Mistlands only revamped fish and fishing in the lower biomes. But if you haven't played since release, then Hearth and Home would be new to you. It made some changes to how blocking works and changed cooking and food. Mostly back end stuff.

There is new stuff in swamps, mountains and plains if you've missed everything since release.

Thanks, I never left the starting biome (apart from black forest) when it came out. I know it's early access but I would of expected something to be added to the starting biome after all this time but I guess that's not in the cards. Thanks because I'll try to get to those other biomes to experience the new content but I am disappointed with the early game since it's identical to before. Makes me wonder if it was worth a new save instead of continuing after the bronze age in my older one.

You might try reading the patch notes occasionally. My question is what were you looking to see changed or added to early game. Early game was pretty much finished when the game first released in EA. Most of what they will focus on is finishing up these biomes & bosses.

Cauldron is more restricted too until you can build the add ons for it, also can't cook serpent meat before iron.

If you didn't delete your save from the Bronze age, there's zero reason you can't
continue that save.
