so the swamp is actually an empty wasteland now?! I thought this was a joke
I was an active poster in the "the swamps are a wall to progress" thread and read most of the comments in the "swamp has become to easy" or whatever post that was released after a recent update
Therefore I do know that the swamp is quite the controverse topic...
The second post I mentioned claimed that after the update the spawn rates of enemies were extremely lowered
I thought this was a joke until I entered the swamp again today. I wanted to farm some entrails but there is literally noone here...
I am typing this post as I stand in the swamp and I am safe
what is going on?! Was the spawn rate of enemies actually reduced because of some crybabies?
and if so.. why?
I know it is too late to return the game. And I don't want to.. It is great
but wtf? why remove all the enemies from the swamp??

I can say the same about the dark forest. The spawn rate has not changed there. I havent noticed ANY lowered spawn rate in the swamps, I cant do anything without getting 2-3 draugr and some skeletons together with those always-happy-to-see-me blobs. And I have cleared out most Draugr/Skeleton spawn stones.
Black forest seems sameold too.
Maybe im just lucky , but i try not to plonk a lot of workbenches around, as they inhibit spawns. In my experience Iron Gate is not a dev that gives in to crybabies.
PS My world was created after the H&H update.
The swamps I touched a little before the this last update so I cannot compare. I never place workbenches to prevent spawns, except near landed ships.
But the current spawn levels feel ok. I can survive more but if I die, with more enemies retrieving my equipment would be really hard.
If the low number of spawns create shortage for farmed materials needed later, that should be balanced somehow too.

I made my outpost base and two of them raised from the ground. One is so close that kills the pigs at my gate and then goes back to his place :) Only thing I'm not seeing as much of are the abominations.
He has no problem with the outpost. It would be really boring without it. Sorry to hear you have no such friends nearby :)

Wow if that's true I'd be very upset. The swamp is the first real wall you come across in Valheim's difficulty. It's balanced, but it's tough. It rewards you for being smart. Yes the poison swamp is an annoying level, it never will not be in video games. That doesn't mean it should become a cake walk. It's a unique environment I don't want to see changed.

I don't know what you all are going on about. I'm just not seeing this myself.
Everytime I go into the swamps it is teeming with draugr's, blobs, skellies, etc.
Only thing I'm not seeing as much of are the abominations.

Before and after the recent updates, I have noticed a reduction of enemies in the Black Forest and in the Swamp once I have been to the same area a number of times. I assumed this was intended to simulate the area being temporarily hunted-out.
It doesn't seem to me that anything has changed, but I share the hope that the devs won't listen to the crybabies and cheese the game.

Yeah I remember saying the swamps seemed unaffected by numbers not realizing once you clear out a swamp the amount of spawns comes no where near to replacing the enemies that were there.
It's almost as safe as the meadows now.

Yeah I remember saying the swamps seemed unaffected by numbers not realizing once you clear out a swamp the amount of spawns comes no where near to replacing the enemies that were there.
It's almost as safe as the meadows now.
but is that because I cleared it once (and independent of the game version)
or only because a newer version changed the spawn system?

I HOPE NOT!
Damn those crybabies! They ruin every single game I once loved. World of Warcraft pre-Cata was awesome! Then Blizzard had to dumb down the game to suit the super casual players. I mean, I was casual, but I never wanted the game to be dumb and stupidly easy!
Mind you, swamps are still hard up until you clear it up and destroy the body piles, then build workbenches everywhere...

It felt like the newer version gutted their spawn rates. I created the game world after the update, it fills them with a lot of enemies and either a lot of them are not going to be replaced by spawns or take several in game days if not weeks to return.

but shouldn't difficulty be something that you change on the fly like in minecraft?
If you create a world that is too easy or difficult you are "stuck" with it/ have to create a new one
if you could change that in the options you could live adapt the game to your difficulty needs

Well, once the new world is generated with the various settings, then it should be a matter of editing the game world INI. I think Transport Tycoon did this. I don't know. I was just saying that at the very least, the devs could introduce such a function. That way those who wish to cry about the game being too hard can play their Hello Kitty Adventure, while the rest of us can play the normal survival version?
