this isnt a survival game
The basic requirements for a survival game are that you must do xyz or you will eventually parish. Usually this comes in the form of needing to eat and stay warm. Everything usually follows after that, with there then being the growth and thrive stages after survival.
In this game, however, there is a baseline point where you can just stand in a safe spot indefinitely at no risk or consequence.
Ergo, this isnt a survival game. I can see survival craft, you have to craft or gather most everything... makes sense... Absolutely open world...
but not a survival game.

And it's a good thing. Next game that makes you manage thirst and hunger meters every 2 minutes can ♥♥♥♥ off. It was never fun in the first place, and this type of fake gameplay overstayed it's welcome.

There is a definition of survival.
The gaming industry just dont care and name everything survival you can die.
Didnt you know Pack man as one of the first survival games ?
If pong is a survival game depends strongly on the Definition of death
Pong was the first and to date only balanced PvP game.
People too young to have had one of these hooked up to your tv missed out!!!

I just wish hunger and thirst in survival games was realistic, like in real life you can go 3 days without water and up to 30 days plus without food. They could actually apply this to this game, if you don't eat anything within 14 days you die. (although I like the system just fine as it is now)

There is no direct definition of a survival game. Doesn't matter if you make one up for yourself. It is survival, you just can't starve, thank god! Although, besides building, without eating you will die from basically anything.
