Solo melee Queen fight?
Are you just supposed to use magic on the queen? I beat the queen as melee in multiplayer but trying to solo is just such a grind. I got like 20% of her health down in 20 minutes. On the multiplayer server I was using mistwalker with level 40 something swords, and on my solo character I was using frostner with level 54 clubs. Is frostner just bad against the queen? it feels about the same as mistwalker against the seekers.

I used mainly magic, tried to melee her solo towards the last % and it felt awful. Saw some videos and it looks like you have to be patient with her attacks, and to have lots of stamina, though the person was using animation cancelling which most people probably won't bother with. Mistwalker is most likely the best option though due to it's speed, slow and 1vX capabilities, but of course depends your preference and skill levels.
Magic does seem so much better in this scenario, and many more imo as it doesn't stamina. With melee you need a good amount of health, or lots of stamina if you dodge more often than blocking/parrying. I might try to fight her again as pure melee eventually and see if there's a good strategy against her.

I can block attacks all day, it's just hard to hit her when she throws me across the room and my attacks only do like 0.01% of her health. I don't have a problem surviving or a stamina problem, I just can't seem to lay down enough dps with melee. I used mainly magic, tried to melee her solo towards the last % and it felt awful. The Queen has 12,500 health and is immune to the spirit damage from both Frostner and Mistwalker. (She also resists pierce). Her attacks are quick so you don't have time to get 3 attack combos in and are best off using the hard hitting secondary attack with those weapons. The frost damage isn't going to slow her enough to be really effective.
Her regeneration is very slow so you can retreat, heal, and rest and she won't have regained much health at all.
But its going to take a long time to kill her doing 40-58 frost and 35 blunt per swing with Frostner.
Black metal axe or black metal sword would serve better.

My strat to solo the queen was mostly just to kite around the base using the fire staff to shoot fireballs, however I did shove my Krom up her butt towards the end because it was fun and it was doing prob a solid 5-7% of her health per hit using the special hit.

I used a combo of BM sword, Krom and Demolisher. It was an easy fight.

Frostner has higher damage per stamina (although by a tiny bit, easily swayed by skill levels). Most weapons are balanced around that and so it does not really matter what we are hitting her with it will all take roughly the same time, regardless of how big numbers we can see on hit or hp bar. But its going to take a long time to kill her doing 40-58 frost and 35 blunt per swing with Frostner.
Black metal axe or black metal sword would serve better.
The only thing that changes this relation is if you can reliably hit 3 hit combo with one weapon and not with the other. And similar timings.
@OP
So yeah Mistwalker is likely the best weapon here. Black metal weapons cost noticably more stamina. But Frostner with better levels should be equal or better. Its just pain to fight her in melee.
Also dont block, roll. Especially on her close attack, that can sometimes hit twice and go through good parry even.
Also poison bombs do quite well vs spawns, demolisher could help too (including cheese).
Its fun to melee with friends but solo is just better with magic. Hard to say how much thou, probably not that much better, as damage per etir is quite similar to damage per stamina except eitir regens up to half as fast as stamina.

The queen is fast. You won't get a 3 swing combo in (except perhaps with flesh rippers, haven't tried those).
Frostner has a longer animation, a lower DPS, and the Queen is immune to the spirit damage. The slow from the frost doesn't help enough against the queen to allow a 3 swing combo before she gets another attack in. Swing once, move a bit while the stam you used regens, dodge as needed, repeat. Same as you did when you fought your first greydwarf brute when you were armed with a club or your first wolf in the mountains with your iron mace or sword.

Her attacks do evolve so what may work well in the early fight will likewise need to evolve during the later.

True true thats half the problem of meleeing her. The queen is fast. You won't get a 3 swing combo in (except perhaps with flesh rippers, haven't tried those).

Yeah DPS is lower but DPStamina is tiny bit higher for Frostner (excluding all spirit but including upgrades). Ofc in practice a balance of the two decides how fast boss dies. Queen isnt exactly a free hit boss like Bonemass or Moder, but its not hard to reach stamina limit before she does something to make you disengage. Unlike, say Yagluth that you really want that burst damage (DPS).
Also im not bias against sword, did my melee with Mistwalker, but thats mostly due to reach and other benefits. Its definitely the best weapon we have. But just not by a any significant margin. In practice only reason why we deal more damage as we progress is increasing stamina pool. If you jump into someones game and give him best weapons he wont be much better off.

That makes sense, you probably don't get knocked back from rolling. Literally the only time I use rolling is to get rid of ticks, parrying is way more fun, that's why I never thought of it.Frostner has higher damage per stamina (although by a tiny bit, easily swayed by skill levels). I wish the keymap for rolling could be changed. I saw a mod out there to enable rolling with double tap of direction.
I haven't tested it yet, but it would easier than the current combo of keys.

I did it with melee and bile bombs. Mostly frostner on queen, demolisher and bile bombs to aoe the adds. Mistwalker is probably good if you have sword skill, my dude had high clubs and 0 sword is all.
