Capacity of Chests Found in Valheim.

Today I found an abandoned village and started the process of converting it into a temporary base.

The abandoned longhouse I chose to occupy contained a chest. Normally I empty these and dismantle these because they are in locations within the house which I find inconvenient. I decided to use this one for its intended purpose.

I discovered the chest had only eight storage slots. I expected ten storage slots like the chests I craft. I have built chests, personal chests, reinforced chests, and black metal chests. None of them has eight storage slots. I have heard of the treasure chest but it is apparently purely decorative and has no storage slots.

Has anyone else encountered this? Is this an oddity or am I a Viking with Attention Deficit Syndrome?

It does seem missing. People have hacked carts into their walls and such to make up for this gap.

i think i have about half that, the neighborhood of 25. But I have not yet begun to manufacture flame arrows on a wide scale. And I have become a bit more reliant on fuel-less lighting options.
That's quite the accomplishment. I have already begun to question the storage of so much. But, when I think how big the Citadel will be, it evens out. I just don't try to collect it, and it's the first thing I drop for other options.

Yeah, there are various different types of chest spawned out in the world that can't be built by players. Apparently chest technology has advanced since these villages were abandoned.

Yep, thats pretty standard. Considering they are the equivalent of little shacks in the woods, probably made by all the non player settlers that Odin dropped into the 10th world, but didn't last five minutes past their first greyling sighting; the buildings aren't too bad for a small first night shelter. And clearly, they didn't yet need to store a lot of stuff, or they'd have built more or better chests to accommodate. Either that or they didn't get the chance too.

Anyhow, not too hard for the player to destroy and replace with a superior quality 10 item chest; of course a bit more organization is required to have a full blown inventory system in closet design for all the loads of crap stuff the player tends to accumulate. Its amazing how fast a 10 slot, 50 stack chest of resin will fill up before you start to actually use it, if at all.
