boats taking damage for no reason

see title. Figured this was a feature of taking small amounts of damage from rough seas in small boats, but it doesnt matter what boat. My boats all just randomly and periodically takes 10 or so damage now and then during a calm sea. I don't remember this before mistlands and it doesnt make the game better.

I noticed damage occurring during the time I am sleeping in a bed... times passes by quickly and the level of the water raises and lowers (tides?) quickly as well, so the boat floats on the water and raises up with the water but suddenly the water drops down causing the boat to "fall" and gets damaged in the process.

There may be other reasons, but that is the one reason I have personally seen first-hand.

Related note- dont try going faster than speed 1 while carrying a lox unless the sea is glass-smooth or your boat will be taking 20 damage a pop and a lot more frequently. Speed 1 doesnt cause that issue.

at least they dont suffer damage from the waves during stormy weathers which seem to be the main concern of op

If it is constant damage, it is from lag. Basically since the player is driving the boat, it can desync from the server. And when the position gets corrected, the engine thinks the boat hit the waves at high speed

If it's any number other than 10 it's something you hit below the surface (sand bar, rock, etc.)

If it's exactly 10 damage it's what I call "Lag damage" because I have only ever seen it while playing on friends' servers. Never once seen it while playing solo.

i think only boats put together with copper can take damage, try to reach iron and youll need like 10 bars of iron or something like that

just avoid crashing into stones and youll be fine and keep enonugh wood for a workbench on you to repair the boat if needed
