If you can build this simple frame, then you can add to it, scale it up or adapt it as you like. It's basically all about ensuring you build a well supported frame ;)

M. Red does pretty wicked circular roofs, which I cannot for the life of me ever make them look nice. Typical A-Frames with a slight deviation are totally fine, but most others, my brain goes mush.

@ShaftAlmighty - i recommend making a creative world with cheats on to practice a lot on roofing

It takes a bit. I'm just figuring out circular roofs, and the overlays are so frustrating to get right. I'm not even trying to make the tops look nice at this point.

Don't even bother posting links(for me at least) because my proto-simian quasi-lizard walnut brain cannot even begin to fathom what would be going on on-screen. I'm talking words, literal typed bits of advice. Bullet points even.

1. Structures, once placed, have a coloring based on how structurally sound they are. grey-blue means its the strongest and the equivalent(To be explained more later) to being in/on the ground. Red indicates that it will be demolished either at the time of placement or moments there after.

3. With point 2 in consideration, you need to support structures as they get higher or if you're building over a cliff etc etc. Horizontal beams, vertical ones, angled ones etc help. However some structures even then can have issues to be placed due to what/how placed.

4. Reinforced iron beams are the strongest support and can act in many cases as a "foundational grey-blue piece" for the next piece placed. However, keep in mind that reinforced iron beams also start to march towards red the farther out they're placed (up or down) from their initial support.

5. Stone cannot be placed as a roof unless supported by the reinfornced iron beams or in limited situations of being very close to the walls of a structure(this is harder to explain but clipping pieces into a wall and having them connect between walls works for small towers etc.

6. Connecting structures to trees means the first placed piece is grey-blue. Rules concerning stone mentioned above though still apply from point 5.

So if you're planning a pagoda style structure, not using iron or stone and only basic wood pieces(including core poles) structure in the middle first to build a tall frame and then poles to plan out each "tier" after that then horizontal beams to flesh out the skeleton of the structure to then build your walls and roofing on each level from there.

Really without knowing your exact design wants, its hard to better explain how to place roof tiles as you wish. Wood floors can "roof" a structure but if you dont want decay, you just need to extend the roof from the tier above it so that it covers over those floor tiles.

Basically, its recommended to lay out the bottom first (like temporarily using horizontal wood beams) to make the circular structure then building up from there. There's a bit of a learning curve/trial and error really.

Thanks! I'll have to remember that for the next build when I decided to try a round shape again.

You have a lot, lot of hours in this game, so I don't understand what about Valheim roofs you don't already know.

Most of those hours i'm usually.......sober-adjacent. Also, i tend to explore rather than build. I make a hut big enough for storage and go off to kill and collect then store. Never bothered building bigger before(lotta bees, hope thy're happy) and i've never really had the patience to figure out the intricacies of structural integrity.
