I have a world in which I'm building a pretty castle. I use another world for playing the adventure.

So far today I've been to the Mistland areas I've previously discovered. The terrain was changed and creatures were there, but none of the new content such as dungeons, bones, trees, large swords, etc...

I'm hoping that when I go to other islands that I haven't been to, that the Mistlands there have all of the new content. I'd prefer not to start a completely different map if I don't have to.

I've seen someone write that the new terrain in old worlds gets a bit extreme and that a new world fixes it. Still playing in an old world. Can someone confirm?

So I sailed a short distance from the previously explored mistlands to a new island. The mistlands there were the new populated biome. That's a relief because I have no interest in a brand new map at this point.

Mislands will be updated on existng map, only if you not discovered this biome, check and read news just.

Always plan to start a new world, any previously explored areas wont be updated with any updates and you could be missing something because you explored too much already.

I like building a lot and plan on making a huge build that takes a long time but I will delete it all in a hearbeat for an update to start again.

I play on Valheim seed for eg and after a few updates idk which one exactly but one of the updates added one of those stone circle points of interest right at the place where I always plan to build my base and it is a great addition to the area I want to build in.

Also if terrain generation algorithm is changed in any way for whatever reason in an update new unexplored areas may not match up with previously explored areas, I dont think they ever have done that and its always been safe in that regard to keep playing on old worlds but it can happen depending on what they update.

Best thing to do if you are wanting to spend a lot of time building and are worried about the time waste of starting again I think there is a way to save and upload buildings. So I would suggest that dont worry about the world just build until your done your build then save it with BuildShare mod and you can import it to a new world if you want.
