Seeds That Make You Explore Or Not
I've played on various seeds now and some are pretty bad in terms of the REQUIRED exploration one has to do in order to find the necessary resources/bosses.
I'm honestly not against exploring since it really is an aspect of the game but I can only enjoy staring at my screen so long while my guy sits at a rudder doing literally nothing for so long when it comes to sailing. The maps overall are HUGE, which I think is great and bad at the same time. Considering it can literally take you an hour or 2 or even 3 sometimes to get to a certain boss from your "home" (I refer to this as the Sacrificial Circle spawn point).
Play style plays into this quite a bit as some just choose to build while others just want to do the bosses but even then, simply building requires a mass variety of resources that will eventually make you explore.
I started an online dedicated server and for that purpose, I can see a seed that makes players explore to get what they need and find bosses but I can't imagine that had this been an offline seed, it may have been a bit much.
What are your thoughts on seed variety?
PS: I do not server transfer items. I have seen and read about "resource seeds" and just server transferring items. Cheaters.

Why is that a cheat ?
Its a feature the developers having in place for a reason if they didn't want players to do that surely they wouldn't have included it its not a accident that they did so its NOT cheating.
No, it's not a 'feature'. It's because of the way things are saved in different files, nothing more.

Having sat in the online mapmaker for a while, most seeds seem to be pretty much the same.
they all have a great many islands of various sizes, where there is sort of a ring of
ice/fire in the north/south, mistlands in a middle region alongside the usual, and the primary meadows/forest/swamp/plains in the middle. You always start in the middleish.
the big differences are..
- where the vendor is hiding
- where the boss alters are
- whether you have (m?)any extra large or extra small or extra "just right for a home" islands.
- how meh your starting location is.
- all that with 'are the available swamps and mountains too sucky to have any ore'.
I like to explore, but the vendor and the bad swamp/mountains ruin a map.

People who only have a goal of killing the bosses and nothing else beyond that will be bored in less than 150 hours depending on how many players are in the lobby and a lot of that depends on much time you take farming materials for food and armour and the seed you're playing on determines how much time you'll be looking for crypts or silver veins, when rushed I cleared the game (killing the 5 bosses) in 83 hours with silver gear on my 2nd solo play through, but some people have spent 300-1000 hours from building and making events with other players in servers or using mods. Valheim is amazing in many way depending on how you look at it, I guess it comes down to what you're looking for, me personally i enjoy building with groups and going on hunts, after burning myself out on vanilla i turned to mods. No harm in taking a break and coming back in a few months

There is a reason portals won't let you transfer metals. Bypassing that is clearly an exploit and cheaty in nature.
