Your ship is your backpack! keep it close but out of danger. Also a cart does wonders locally.

This.

The belt increases your carry weight quite a bit.

The cart also is like a backpack. You can carry 10 nails with you and have a "pocket cart", then when you need it, cut a few trees down, build a workbench, build a cart.

You could carve a cart path all the way up. Like, zig zag it so it's not steep. It would take you all day though. lol

Haha, Yup, why I went looking for another spawn. Made steps going up to the top with my pick on the other side of the mountain, that looked almost as bad as this side. Got to the top (where the Moder spawn was) and realised the portal mats were still on the boat~

It did feel at times that it would have made more sense to have a Skyrim or Witcher style inventory system where weight rather than weight + slots were limiting factors given all the bits and bobs you can pick up. This is an artifact of Minecraft-style inventory management and while I think it is mostly alright, I agree that it can get frustrating at times trying to keep my world clean.

I've encountered three types of inventory.
Weight based inventory
Space/shape based inventory
And the slot inventory.

On occasion I will see a hybridized version (Valheim of course uses weight and slots). I understand the desire for a backpack and sometimes things about slot inventory may seem silly, but I see it as more of a puzzle. Each different inventory system presents different challenges.

Weight based is probably the most simple.
Shape/Space is usually the most complicated/realistic.
Slots is a nice middle ground in my opinion.

IMO the game can use an progression system tied to the players inventory. Incrementally increasing slots and weight limit by crafting belts and/or backpacks. The belt from the trader was cool when the game released as early access. At this point, a new system seems overdue.

That's just a strength increase, doesn't help with how you constantly fill your inventory with lots of different poorly stacking low-weight stuff. (Like the mentioned coins and sellables.)

When any remotely usable exploration kit takes up 16 slots of a 32 slot inventory, there is a need for an actual inventory space expansion.

So, naturally, you don't get one, because this is Valheim.
