They are pretty easy to take out with wooden arrows from distance (learn to spot them - they don't spawn anywhere near the player initially) + they are a lot easier now than the old days :D. Get at least some root armour as well (more arrow damage, more pierce resist).

I consider it a personal blot on my character that I enjoy blastign he damn things from a huge distance with my arbalest...

Totally pointless game wise but after all the grief very satisfying!

So, we have confirmation that the hitbox is not an issue, but, of course, we already knew that.

I've probably spent hundreds of hours in plains bases, and have had them fly through openings, but I've been "bat proofing" my buildings for quite some time and have never had a deathsquito in my bases since then.

I have had plenty of surprise attacks, but never seen one spawn near me. They are very fast, so it might seem like they "spawn in your face", but I would have to see proof of that.

There's nothing bugged about them. Literally raise your shield when they get close and they will do 0 damage.

Go back to the swamp and make a root chest piece. Despite the fact that the armor rating is lower, the pierce resist dramatically reduces mosquito damage, also works for spear fulings and seekers, but avoid fire.

Piercing resistance is OP in the plains. You only need the chest piece to gain the resistance, so you can put armor pieces from other sets on the rest of your body.

Hold Shield out, or, Atgeir Secondary attack / Middle Mouse when they are almost attacking. I never die from them for a long time, when you do those.

What is broken?

The HITBOX is bug, i know kill mosquitoes, but is bug, spawn in the face all the time, random moves? NO, they do moves and they magically are more near of the players.

So much this! Fully armored, get hit twice, you dead. Ah, the good old days...

I just parry then slash. For variety I shoot them with my bow.
