What is a 1-10 player?
The description of Valheim says:
"A brutal exploration and survival game for 1-10 players, set in a procedurally-generated purgatory inspired by viking culture. Battle, build, and conquer your way to a saga worthy of Odin’s patronage"
What does 1-10 player mean??

This is what we're using:so is that method effective against mod users as well. as i know there is an issue with being able to use any mods on any map at any time...... e.x. you host a clean map and want a default game play. i join you but i use mods. my portal mod allows me to bring metal back through them. you did not witness it......??? this is the big thing i want solved in the game Or install Server Side Characters, along with a few other Mods (like AzuAntiCheat), and make clear that's a "no cheats" map, so that your guest knows: if they try to "import" from other maps and/or pump their skills, the server will kick them out (and they'll have to remake the character from scratch).
Me and friends are running a map in that way, and I'm appreciating it a lot: "friends" have been just gathered here in the forum, as usual.
As @grapplehoeker correctly told "trust can be earned" but it's terribly difficult to trust someone you don't know, if you can't see their skills/inventories (hopefully IGS devs will implement such things in game's core, with time, as well as options flags to enable/disable them).
- anti cheat (required Mods):
- BepInExPack_Valheim by denikson: BepInEx pack for Valheim. Preconfigured and includes unstripped Unity DLLs.
- AzuAntiCheat by Azumatt: A minor anti-d!ckhead mod. Server files dictate what is blacklisted/not allowed. Admins/Moderators bypass the check for plugins.
- ServerCharacters by Smoothbrain: Saves your character on the server, instead of your computer, to prevent you from messing with it.
- BepInExPack_Valheim by denikson: BepInEx pack for Valheim. Preconfigured and includes unstripped Unity DLLs.
- support (maybe required Mods: I didn't make this configuration, so I'm not sure):
- ExtendedItemDataFramework by RandyKnapp: Extends ItemData for modders. Adds Unique ID to items.
- ConfigurationManager by cjayride: Edit your configs in game.
- ExtendedItemDataFramework by RandyKnapp: Extends ItemData for modders. Adds Unique ID to items.
- QoL (optional but nice Mods):
- Better_Trader_Remake by OdinPlus: Adds a custom trader menu, 310+ items to buy/sell, built-in support for Epic Loot, and an extensive list of configuration options.
- WardIsLove by Azumatt: A dedicated ward mod. Based around the idea that wards should be individually configurable. Managed with a simple GUI interface for admins.
- Auga by RandyKnapp: A fresh new look for Valheim (User Interface)
- GuildPack by OdinPlus: A pack with Bannes, Flags, Capes and Shields to be used to identify guilds. (just capes and shields: still lack the "clans" support)
- FenceSnap by MSchmoecker: Adds snappoints to fences and sharp stakes
- BackPacks_Remake by OdinPlus: Add Some cool storage options (e.g. +12 inventory slots with the base backpack, upgraded to L4)
- QuickConnect by bdew: Adds a quick connect window with a configurable list of servers, no more dealing with steam's buggy favorites widow and entering passwords.
- KGchat by KGvalheim:
- : Mod replacing vanilla chat on new one, with custom options and features: resize, move, chat mode (say, shout, whisper), font change, color change
- Better_Trader_Remake by OdinPlus: Adds a custom trader menu, 310+ items to buy/sell, built-in support for Epic Loot, and an extensive list of configuration options.
Optional Mods are just the few ones we experimented with, as we tried to remain near to vanilla (AKA no great changes).
As all can use the abovementioned features, we all play fair.
Remember that such Mods are not 100% proof (which one can be?), as even the authors wrote, but we're satisfied by the "reasonable anti-cheat level" we reached (I'm totally anti-cheat, in MP games, as I don't like to waste my game-time).

I'd be seriously weary of multiplayer with strangers. There are tons of people willing to ruin the natural progression of things. I'd strongly recommend not playing with more than 2 or 3 strangers if you don't have your own group, becomes very hard to keep track of what's going on and if they are somewhere else in the world as it is large enough to accomodate many others, well I just don't see the point if you are not going to interact with eachother and go your own way instead...

You can play on your own (1 player) and with up to 9 other people in a server to make 10 players.
I wouldn't recommend playing alongside strangers though. A playthrough takes a lot of commitment that untrusted people can easily ruin.
ahh ok.. ty

The world is more than big enough to accommodate other players who aren't necessarily friends of yours. There is plenty of land, biomes and bosses to go around. So I cannot see your playthrough being ruined, unless they actively set out to ruin yours. You can play on your own (1 player) and with up to 9 other people in a server to make 10 players.

No, the pertinent reason would be your willingness to host a server for players you do not know. Trust can be earned of course, but it's your extra time and work you'd have to invest in vetting them.
The option for 2-9 extra players to join you in a co-op venture is therefore aimed at you and friends of yours.
That said, the game can easily be played solo ;)
