The death of an early access singleplayer/coop game, or not...?
First off - I don't mind if this thread was locked or deleted if needed - if it does become unconstructive in any way.
The point of the thread - a lighthearted guessing game while we wait for Mistlands, and potentially enlighten some parts of the community about game development, hype, player count, etc.
Do I know the answers? Not at all.
The argument made in this forum - The hype is gone/the game is dead/the players gone and won't come back for Mistlands.
The questions and the challenge:
What player count will Valheim reach within 3 weeks after the release of Mistlands?
What player count would it take for you to admit a successful continuation of Valheim?
Two easy questions to answer if you've got a strong notion toward one thing or another.
edit: for reference - Valheim is currently played by approx 12k, with peak at ca 18k.

Most people that all ready own a game come back to at least try new content when its added, especially if it is free and not paid DLC.
Speculating on player numbers is kind of moot since every person has a unique viewpoint on what is worth it. Heck I know people that still play EA games that are abandonware now. I still have old full release software (back when that was the only way you could do it) that was put out by companies that are long gone that was great fun. If someone made an emulator for the required OS and I had a computer that had a floppy drive there are some older games that I would still be playing. If they were remastered I'd buy them again in a heart beat.

I don't know and I don't care. The questions and the challenge:
What player count will Valheim reach within 3 weeks after the release of Mistlands?
N/A What player count would it take for you to admit a successful continuation of Valheim?
Player count? The only player count that matters to me is 1... myself.
I don't have to admit anything. I expect IG to complete their game and that goes well beyond Mistlands.
They're also easy to answer if you don't give a monkey's about one notion or another ;p Two easy questions to answer if you've got a strong notion toward one thing or another.

This Game is neither an MMO nor does it have online matchmaking, so playercount is absolutely irrelevant.

Not sure the point of trying to be provocative other than just trying to get attention for yourself.
Why are you trying to start a pissing contest?

Using player count to gauge this game is nonsense

FWIW "dead Game" comments in a basically single player game are irrelevant .. just dont play...no one is forcing you to..
player count of 1 me..anyone else is a bonus and i'm happy to help the devs with POSITIVE suggestions and chat w other like minded players to solve "issues" with patches as they happen as this EA game progresses
BTW Even as it currently is, its great value for money in dollars per hour entertainment and IMHO you wont find a more unique game for the size it takes up on your HDU

I would prefer if my other friends playing it, are also happy about the new content.

What's with the attitude? Explain what's so provocative. It's a decent thought exercise. A few open and fairly neutral questions about what the Mistlands update will do to the playerbase. Not sure the point of trying to be provocative other than just trying to get attention for yourself.
Why are you trying to start a pissing contest?
Pretty funny to see the reluctance of answering the very harmless questions in the OP.
I'll start then. I believe the player count will surpass a peak of 150 000 players within the first three weeks. I think it's a decent number of player which would count as a success.
