Not at all. Those biomes are my favourites too. The lighting and environments are superb. :) I also love the Deep North - the sunsets are lovely. I hope that's something that they keep when they finally get around to developing that particular area.

Nope, my sentiments exactly.

They are iconic, and feel appropriate for a Viking. I am not keen on the swamp, the plains are too empty, and the Mountains weren't much better until they got more content, but they still can't match the first two.

I really must get back on to applying for a job with the team, there's so much more they could do to address your concerns without a major rethink.

I like all the biomes. Swamp is my least favorite because i don't like being wet all of the time but i don't hate it and want them to change it because of that. The environmental challenges of each biome make it interesting.

Yup, first two feel the most well thought out. I actually like the swamp & mountains now have too many golems, trip over the damned things - but begin to lose enthusiasm in the plains. Just isn't much to do there though I have gotten more into plinking blobs & villages to watch them fight it out but it's just a bit lacking. Building my nice plains base always feels like the real end of the game to me but that could be because it was so long till the ML update. An occasional dungeon or puzzle cave of some kind would have been fun.

I would say no. Though I do personally hate BF myself.

To me it seems clear that a lot of people dislike the Swamp because BF does a terrible job of preparing players for it. BF teaches new players that it is safe to ignore half their mechanics and sets up the expectation that the rest of the game is going to be similarly forgiving and relaxing.

The first time I hit swamp, I quickly realised Black Forest was just a really long tutorial biome in a game that already had a tutorial biome.

I dunno, I think it was the best time to give us a good old dope slap. Being too harsh in the BF might have needlessly chased a lot of folks away. I know, now is the time for all the "Brutal" lovers to get up in arms but this is just my opinion so cool your jets... It was the pandemic and many (like 8 milllion of them in this case) were looking for something to do and most wouldn't have known brutal from bupkis so BF gave them a little break. So what. Soon enough players figured out swamp and either realized what was needed or meandered off to do something else.

On my current play through, this morning I hit the swamp and still got a little chill when that sinister music opens and there's my first 1*draugr, lightly clad as I am. Nope, game doesn't hold our hands, but that's not a bad thing.

Plains is very nice too. Some biomes are easier on your eyes and ears, but variety is needed and good.

I pretty much call it a day after the mountains. Play Civ V for a bit then restart this.

5. Ocean
6. Mistlands
7. Swamp

and folks can rank order their preferences as they wish

Definitely not just you, many players solely stay in meadows and blackforest and decide to live their lives in valheim peacefully. There's even in-game lore of Astrid doing just that
