You can't attack with it, however it will fight along side you and is extremely powerful. Deathsquitos can kill your lox hella fast. So can the fudlings but they're more likely to attack you in my current experience

It'd be great for hauling ores up or down a mountain. Better than the wagon. After two biomes I think it'd a be fair upgrade.

Not 100% sure but I think the lox tracted cart was suggested a long time ago. Saddlebags are also a decent idea.

You may well be right, it's a good idea for people to post suggestions even if they may have been posted before tho. Often when game studios are looking at player feedback for ideas of what the community wants they'll look for the most requested items.

I love the idea of being able to hook my little cart up to a lox! Or having a little sled for a wolf in the mountains :D even if it only had 2 or 3 slots for inventory just to carry like my food or potions.
