I'll have my big base somewhere in the meadows for most of the game before building something bigger, better and stronger on a cross section of meadows and plains.

Plains on seperate seed for easy growing (almost) any planted food & trees. Also bordering with Mountains to my North West & West with Mistlands to my North. So access to both Wolves & Lox, Drakes & Obsidian in the mountain for Frost Arrows, Lox for breeding & food supply, Black Metal on tap, 2 Swamps nearby so plenty of Iron, and a short stroll down to the sea for Serpents & a few types of fish, Anglers included , for Fish & Bread.
Also tried to put a few spawn prevention wards buried deep in the ground they seem to work somewhat, to protect the Lox Corral I built from an old Fuling Village I took out a while back.

yes i do. the main hub is mostly a gate network, but it can require a lot of land, depending on how far you have explored and amount of sub bases you build.I like this idea and connect them all with portals im guessing? usually in ruins. i create a network of bases with one central hub

I base on the seed I am given, in an open area in the meadows, near the ocean and black forest.

Same seed. I tried the separate seed thing once and decided that the log in and out thing was annoying. You'll need a fully equipped bedroom on your working seed anyway because the rested bonus doesn't carry over.
I don't think it's worth it unless you're a group that is tight for resources, or a huge vanity builder.

Always in the meadows, near deep water ocean frontage, very close to BF, backed up by large mountain range. And within short distance of trader if lucky.
Location, location, location.
2nd base in Plains, probably something in Mistlands for shroom farming.

ok this sounds about what I was expecting,as soon as I unlock the stone cutter I think I will go for an island base to avoid raids etc Same seed. all of the above + somewhere inbetween swamp/black forest is a bonus since iron is used in a lot of building if you build bigger
while in the meadows on shore/or on an island like you said
i've had a few meadows spawn seeds where the meadows just went forever and the travel time sucked for mining

Wherever I need to. I got bases all over. "home" is one that my back door steps out into the merchant's barrier for convenience.

Being near the merchant is great. Always copper veins, a troll to help mine, core wood. Lots of thistle and bluebs.

Currently, I decided to build my portals around the trader so that wherever I come from I can sell/buy. Ended up building my main base there as well, it's basically an island with 65% ocean & 35% river borders. Surtling raid had them just staring longingly across the river at my base 😂.
I had hoped to use the trader barrier as a transparent gate, but monsters walk right on through - they just won't attack you if you're inside yourself. A useful get away if all is lost I suppose, though I haven't used it for that and doubt I ever will.
Tamed boars tend to end up wherever I find them. To spend time with them so they reproduce I might also farm there too. Rarely would I use wolves or lox for attack/defence, though if they're close enough to where I want to live or something that needs attacking, why not.
Usually I keep some kind of basic presence near the sacrificial stones for portaling back to. It's a basic wooden starter building, and I added a basic stake wall just in case - if it ever gets properly raided I doubt even floor pieces will be left.
I've done multiple bases, roads, nomadic.. a lot of time wasting building - now I just run around and go home as necessary. I don't hoe the swamps, swamps are for running and jumping.
Not that I dislike building in Valheim, I spent a month or two doing nothing but building in debug mode, considering real life house designs I might like if I ever win lotto. But if I'm actually playing properly there's only so much building that needs doing.

In order to get the intended experience I base in the seed I start. This is especially true when playing nomadically out of a boat and backpacks. I like to keep my characters and their seeds entirely compartmentalized. In terms of where to build, the first answer is always the maypole. The second best place would be near the sacrifice stones. Dying without a bed isn't that big of deal as it's a quick jog back to base and the portals. the third best spot is any location that's geographically favorable, whether that's multi-biome borders or easily defensible positions etc.
