Whatever you do don't put two carts on a karve and expect to make a long voyage...your ability to turn once they're full is nigh impossible.

Modded my karve to 8x30 Slots and it sails fine.
Looks as if only the Card suffers from Storage weight

I don't think weight has any effect or the Karve or Longship; they're in the game to get to other areas and transport ore - if the devs added another limitation on transporting ores / ingots there'd be riots!

Had it full with iron before, no issues

The more you put in the hold the more likely a sea serpent will appear.

I'm going to name the sea serpent that always seems to show up when I'm no where near the shore 'Murphy' :)

weight does slow them down, but not by much. if you load them up and then start putting carts on them though... i found one full cart is about max. a one day sail became 3.

For full load, fill your longship hold with iron. Get a friend to ride along with a full inventory with iron. Have that friend harpoon another friend, who has filled their inventory with iron and is waterskiing with a cart, which itself is fully loaded with iron.

Get another friend with a harpoon, because that will surely attract a sea serpent that will sink the whole lot to the bottom of the ocean.

I don't think it has a weight limit, so it's safe for the mother-in-law.

LOL Maybe you're right. I have never come across a sea serpent in all my previous sailing, but with 4 stacks of tin in the hold one attacked me while crossing a fairly narrow stretch of water. Chased me all the way to shore and didn't manage to destroy my boat, but severely damaged it even though I ran it ashore in shallows.

If you're quick and lucky you can take them out from shore with a bow. I've gotten a couple that way.

FWIW, the longship survives much better against sea serpents. They're not cheap to build, but they're well worth it when you get to a point when you can build one.
