I think that a way to farm resin, like a tree tap with a bucket could be a realistic way to farm larger amounts of resin. This would be useful for large builds or multiplayer villages that require an ungodly number of torches/sconces to keep it lit. It wouldn't be much different to collective honey from beehives every few days.
