Why the love?

Not sure why people are enjoying this tbqh. The building aspect is really annoying with its non-stated rules. the PvE is a bit ♥♥♥♥, just wondering what I am missing. Its an OK open world, like a unity tutorial, just not really anything interesting after that.

To be honest I think it is one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen.. I could spend hours just sailing around. The water is fantastic, the land looks amazing.. meadows is so beautiful. The game is a truly lovely experience. I sometimes just login go to the top of my house and just look out over the ocean/land and smile.

The difficulty scaling from biome to biome is done weil.
It is generally tough when you start and easy once you have the gear from it.

Its lame without mods.. No challenge, and the idea of "vast worlds to explore" is laughable.. Its all the same stuff on every island. Once you have encountered anything. That's it nothing more is coming... Really the entire game could be played on a map 1/ 10th of the size.

Does go with every game though, once you have explored everything you've, explored everything.

you'd wipe out sailing :P

Well that's your opinion and for certain this genre is not your cup of tea.
Better find another game that fit with your specific genre.

It`s digital art. Not everyone can see it, so no problem if you dont like it.

Yeah, I would.
As it stands it's a "point to direction and do something else for several minutes" and the most exciting thing that can happen would be headwind and serpent attack together.
Maybe bumping into leviathan and getting stuck.

its still in dev, so unstated rules could be a 'figure it out' approach long term or it could be explained at release, we don't know where they are going. But you make it sound hard... you can go X distance from the ground before stuff falls. Items can clip into each other. Crafting station stuff has to be really close together. That is it, all the rules that matter -- I mean you can mention that you can snap or free float, or that there are 8 or whatever rotation angles, but what else?

As far as why you like it .. or not.. people like different stuff for different reasons. I like to build here, and I enjoy most of the other game activities as well like farming, gathering, exploring... some say its all the same, but there are unique places in every map where the terrain and biomes and random placements just work out to make something awesome.

possible bait post, but, Ive played tons of games with building...fo76, Conan, Rust, Forest....Valheim is the best and most forgiving by a landslide.

I traveled to another island and in the middle of setting up a bed, I got overwhelmed and died. Demoralizing… I took a deep breath, made a new boat and set sail again.

After a little while I asked myself why I’m actually playing this game. Much like the OP mentioned is how I feel. For whatever reason though, I still log on and play. After spending an hour doing random things I realize I haven’t progressed anywhere, but it’s still satisfying.

So many games hold your hand and point you in the right direction… and I always feel like chasing the next listed objective makes it a chore for me.

I guess that’s why it’s “fun” for me.

Dunno wtf your talking about, the game is great. I've been playing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for decades now and Valheim gets me pumping to want to play as much as possible. Haven't had that feeling in quite some time. Sucks for you that you can't seem to enjoy it. It is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gem and a half.

Not sure what you are missing, but since I love this game so much and especially the building part, so just leaving my very personal opinion here. I love this game, "Not sure why people are NOT enjoying this tbqh. The building aspect is really NOT annoying with its VERY-stated rules. the PvE is a bit CUTE, just wondering what I am missing. Its an AWESOME open world, like a FUN unity tutorial period." <33333

well, that's kinda like your opinion, man. I could enjoy staring at the wall if I'm feeling decent. If I'm feeling decent irl, I could see good things about Valheim. I just started btw, and I can already see why it's well regarded.

For me it's building. I love the style of the game. The landscapes are beautiful and i can spend Hour's on a Build.
But i use Mods. And when i don't be in creative mode, i use even more mods because yeah, the game itself for me personally is more annyoing than challenging. And the World itself is quite empty when you don't put youre own stuff in it or mod it.
There are mods who add Animals and extra Landmarks. Mods that make taming make sense and be usefull. Ect.

So ... yeah, mods are the key for me personally. The different, quite unique artstyle has attracked me, but thanks to mod's i play to this day.

Why the hate?

There is no better building game out there.
with more relaxed rules than most allowing you to build your base practically how you want.
There's a vast world to explore with vastly different biomes. weapons, creatures, crops, bosses..

also some great innovative design choices that isn't just cheap aesthetics

Credit where credits due, ..they've done some good stuff.
