Sadly the automatic backups are about as useful as the ones Office makes. The command to get your world back is copy/paste in file explorer and you gotta do it in advance. :/

this whole cleaning up world bug seems to be related to wrong copy pasting of files
like... each world has 2 files... but people copy only 1 of them...
but if he does overwrite... then yeah, useless
(to not overwrite simply do CTRL+ALT+DEL and kill game)

backups work as long as he doesn't overwritten then Sadly the automatic backups are about as useful as the ones Office makes. The command to get your world back is copy/paste in file explorer and you gotta do it in advance. :/

Have you tried reloading could just be a glitch with cloud.
There is 2 folders in Valhein saves Characror and Worlds
C:\Users\yourname\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim
Make a backup copy of these 2 folders before altering anything.
Then go into the “worlds” folder.
You should see some files with the name of your world.
There should be two files, a .db file and a .fwl file.
there will be another set of files named: xxxxx.fwl.old, and xxxxxx.db.old
All you should have to do is change the name of those files by deleting the .old out of the name.
Hopefully it will restore you last backup of the data, and should fix any world data loss.
I'd disable cloud saves also while testing it as your new log off will create a new save. But you have the backup now just incase.
If it worked then renable auto saves in cloud.
