Start all over for new friends?

Hi everyone!
Me and a few friends played Valheim last year. Other friends wanted to try the game but we already spent a lot of time in our world and they didn't really want to join us because of that. I've spent 100+ hours with my character and stopped playing for a while. Now we want to start palying again with our friends that never played the game.

Here comes a dilemma: I'm willing to start a new world with them but they don't want to play with us unless we make a fresh new character. I've spent a lot of time leveling up my character and I'm having a really hard time agreeing to start ALL over. I'm willing to let go of my inventory while keeping my skill levels.

Do any of you guys have any opinion or advice?

I think all your friends are asking is that you make a new character so that you don't ruin their "new player experience" and for that reason I would respect their request and roll a new character. I honestly don't think they're asking for much and is a reasonable request.

We played through with a friend that was starting fresh, just had them make their own world and came in naked on our existing characters. Once they reached a certain tier of armor and weapons we would just grab that same tier from the stash in our existing world or just crafted it in our existing world since we had abundant resources already farmed there. Put us pretty much on the same page as the new player, but saved from wasting resources on crafting 3 sets of gear and allowed them to upgrade their gear faster and kept us from polluting his play through by bringing in resources. Our existing characters were obviously stronger than their new character because of skill levels, but I don't think it is really that noticeable. Whats more noticeable is just the difference in skill from having played the game several hundred more hours than them, but there really isn't anything you can do about that besides handicapping yourself with lower quality gear. You can't really ever recreate the magic that was the first time playing through, so when someone new starts, all you can really do is try your best to not spoil it or carry them.

The thing is that if I'm going to a fresh new world I'm leaving the other one for good because I don't see the point in switching between characters and worlds. At first I didn't plan to make any other world or creating a new character. In RPGs I personnaly like to have a characters stats maxed in the end and do everything I can in the game with only one character. Also gaming time is precious to me and even if it's dumb, I'll feel like the 100h I spent leveling up were played for nothing.
This said I'll probably make a new character because maybe I shouldn't take it too seriously ^^
It's also hard for me to lose any kind of progression because I'm usually not into multiplayer/craft/survival games

Its not really fun to be the new guy with nothing while your buddy cuts a troll in half with one hit. And its a big loss in this game to get powered up to max gear without doing any of the content. Starting over is the best way, and you have enough knowledge now to still put your experience to good use so it will be easier & faster this time.

This is very good thank you!

Ga ' head make another character, that way you won't be miles ahead of your friends in levels, and you can all level together. When you have the urge to play and your friends are not available you can hop on your main character, enjoy the game, and not be out distancing your friends in level progression. I am sure you will enjoy starting over with all that previous knowledge.

why is it such a big deal? i've made like 4 characters. if you start a fresh world it's obvious that you are going to start it with a new character

there is 0 dilemma, you can just make a new character to use on their worlds and then use your old one on your other worlds, i fail to see the issue here

Friend I do get where your coming from but, the kicker has to be are your friends worth more to you than a few levels on a character?
As your the experienced player you will level that new character faster than they and can help them making newbie mistakes.
I was in a similar situation a few months back and it was hard letting got my old toon and discovered world but the new one with new friends has been worth it.
but I appreciate your mileage may vary :)

I don't see why that would be a problem unless some mini game they plan needs everyone equal. Otherwise they're being intolerant and domineering. Quite the dilemma your in, your friends your response.

In my view if they're good friends I'd say this to their face. If they're just friends be polite, be supportive, I wouldn't know what struggle they may have privately. Do unto others as you wish they would do to you.
