In addition to V+, I'd recommend Slope Combat Fix because Mistlands is not flat at all. Fixes a longstanding gripe about the game of not being able to hit anything that's not on the same level as you. https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/727

While I do not use mods myself, I have noticed a few things:

1. Yes, there are mods for Valheim. However, because the game is still unfinished and the studio is yet to support modding, almost every time that it updates the mods will play catch up for a small time, be it hours, days or, worst cases, weeks.

2. As for vanilla game being unplayable, I would not go that far. Rather, you'll need a good head on your shoulders and a little bit of luck in order to get to the end. There is a grind, and some do not like it, while others do.

3. Returning to the mod question, I would personally wait at least a week or two before resorting to them as this will be the critical period for hotfixes that can make said mods obsolete until these are updated again. See point 1 as for why.

Now, regarding mods that may help out a single player, Benevolent above has given you the name for one that they find useful, others will probably follow.

None, just play as game as it is intended. Vanilla player here, still standing strong.

First off the modders are probably still playing catch up with the update, most likely working on making whatever mod they have to be compatible for the latest update, and the hotfixes that will soon come after. This is the phase of the update where you're supposed to get excited by the new content and experience it, BEFORE modding the game.

well maybe if the game were actually challenging in a fun way people wouldnt ask for mods, but instead its borderline unplayable

Would be funny if true, but it ain't.

You definitely want "Portal Anything" mod as a Solo Player. This allows you to send anything through portals...even metals....which is huge and saves you tons of time as a Solo Player.
