You don't need the Internet to play solo, however it does come in handy if something about the game doesn't make sense to you (like making fire with a hammer). Play in a nice coffee shop for a while.

If you're observant and experiment, you can solo this game without the Internet. The few times I've looked things up have resulted in .

If the question is to play with friends or rely on the community then that may end badly.

Solo is quite doable but it does take work and probably normal people would see it as repetitive. I enjoy the exploration and logistics of it and that gets me through the tree cutting, ore mining and farming needed to progress. But don't kid yourself there is a lot of that going on.

Increasing the people increases the work but many hands can divide up jobs... don't want to be the poor guy farming for 10 people while others are out exploring and having fun.

The thing is this isn't an MMO where you join public servers hosted by the dev. Players host or rent servers and run with friends on typically passworded servers. If left open any player could join your world and destroy what you built and steal resources just for laughs.. so people tend not to let strangers in unless they don't care or want to learn the hard way.

The way to join others is in "looking for groups" sub forum or I guess discord? I have only played with friends on steam, but most of my time is solo.

I put my 24/7 server public on the server list as: * Public Valheim+ ;Pass= 123456

Have only seen another player or two drop in briefly. /shrug SOLO it is! :D

Valheim is a good solo experience. You get to explore and exploit the world at your own pace. You can build without fighting over space or design with others.

Playing with friends is also fun, but it hits differently.

It's excellent solo and beyond excellent with friends, so definitely worth it even for solo playing. That's how I play most of my time.

By default, you locally host any games you start. As such, you do not require an internet connection for any solo games. You would still need to use a mod to allow pausing in a solo game.

I've played solo for hundreds of hours. I have other games, I think. Yes, I seem to remember buying some games, and a terabyte SSD to hold them all.

My budget gaming laptop doesn't have access panels. You have to remove eleventy-seven screws in eight different sizes and then pry it open like a tablet PC, inserting guitar picks, praying and cursing and holding your breath as you go. But that's not near as much fun as disconnecting the battery.

If I had known that games like Valheim existed, I would have just bought a backup drive. One gigabyte. One. I should hate them.

You can totally play this game solo. You should still buy other games that are on sale, but don't pass up Valheim if it has any appeal for you. Just beware that your other games might languish a while.

I mostly play the game solo. It's fun to play with friends but it's certainly not necessary. The World is a pretty big place with lots of areas to explore, things to do, and monsters to battle.

Playing Solo is really nice & no problem here, i also play solo and you can spend easy tons of hours, ofc depends on the playstyle!
Money for me here is more worth then many other AAA Games.

Ive both played with friends and solo, both suits me fine - so in the end its all up to you really, what you prefer :)

(I speak french, pardon my spelling) I've been playing solo only for a few months. I adore the game, can't stop playing. Takes way more time alone, then multiplayer (I've been playing for months, while my brother in law finished within a month at 2 players). 2 times I've lost all my gear and it tooks me a few hours to recover it. Apparently their is a volunteer rescue team on the community that can come and help you retrieve you loot for solo players in the same situations who don't want to spend hours rebuilding their gear.

As I replied to the other threads that ask this question. Absolutely! Its how I play.
