Drowning

There's an exploit to drowning, I know. But, why do we have to drown when our head is above water? I think swimming deserves a lot more stamina, we drown too quickly.

Swim is a Skill in Valheim.

Leveling Up
It that can be raised through swimming in any body of water.

Experience is gained even if you are out of stamina & drowning. Wading and treading water do not grant xp.
Skill Benefits

Raising the Swim skill decreases the amount of stamina that is used and subsequently allows the player to swim farther before running out of stamina and taking damage.
Yeah i meant an additional benefit to swim skill. being "treading water" so you can stay "undrowned" and rest as the swim skill grows so does your ability to rest.. and even eventually to be able to fight whilst floating ... even get to shore if nothing in ocean eats you :-)

You can stay 'undrowned' infinitely if you have stamina. And you may replenish stamina with potions. So swimming distance is only limited by your inventory size.

Reducing your movement speed penalty will also reduce the cost for swimming.

Sure, games just tend to cut the less engaging parts out. You can also get that effect with stamina mead. :p

The skill could scale better, certainly, or it could be trained faster.

Wait until you have an otherwise trivial mob kill you by simply pushing you into the water and hitting you until you drown while you're completely helpless and can't fight or swim back.

Water interaction in general is completely broken in Valheim. Always think twice about entering the water, and then pause and think again, and check your stamina. If it looks like you have plenty of stamina to get across that stream, you probably don't, so always swim for rocks and shallow spots.

Ever tried to swim in armor, carrying weapons, a shield, and a full back pack? It doesn't take long to get exhausted and drown. Considering that the game day is 30 minutes long (21 minute day and 8 minute night) swimming for 60 seconds is the equivalent of swimming for over 45 minutes IRL.

That would make sense if it didn't work exactly the same way with nothing on as it does in full metal armor and carrying half a mountain in your inventory. The time aspect doesn't make sense either, considering that it doesn't apply to sprinting, or pretty much every other aspect of the game. If I can sprint up the side of a mountain without stopping, I can certainly swim across a stream without drowning. I can also rest by treading water.
