Leather scraps

Is there a better way to farm them than running blindly through the forest hoping for a boar to drop 1 per kill?
I really wish we could shred deer pelts for them. I have so many more of those.

No clue how, yet. I'm just a couple hours in, and am trying to build the tanning rack that requires 20 scraps.
Haven't seen anything about taming yet.

That is incredibly disheartening.

Be silent arround them ( crunching ) and drop some berries or mushrooms , the tame working starts with that , be arround the area and in 1 o 2 days ingame the boar is friendly to you and can breed for you with another tamed boar of course

they eat raspberries, blueberries, red mushrooms or carrots
If you have two or more in your pen and they have food, they will make babies
You slaughter them with the butcher knife or by turning on PVP in the tab-menu

You run faster, and train your run skills by being a running Boar hunter.

Nah but really if you can manage to find one of those "shrines" with the red text on it that talks about boars, those actually spawn boars periodically.

Not the best method. Build an fence enclosure, and then lure one to it, then close. In controled enviroment you can more easily breed them. Even better if one of the original boars are 2 stars, it makes any offsprings to potentialy spawn with two stars. And when you have a few of 2 star boars, kill the rest, and then you have unlimited beef and leather. Just feed them regularly

Thanks for the taming video. It should help a lot.

I've got a scrapton of them, you can have them all, if you need them now.

^^ Hah, scrapton!

I find taming stuff to be fairly lame (lox excluded).
So what I would do is find a boarstone or two (the stone that tells you that you can tame them) and mark the location. 4 or 5 boar spawn at these regularly: its like having a boar farm, only you don't have to do anything. There are always 2 or 3 of these near your spawn point in a new game, in my experience.
You really don't need that much scrap leather. A farm will get you more, eventually, but all you need is just a small amount for early game items, and after that it just piles up. Even if you routinely abandon rafts, you still don't need all you find.

So I ticked off two boars and had them chase me to the fenced area I created for them. They started busting the gate, so I triple tiered it. Then I tossed 20 mushrooms (1 at a time, which is annoying). Two days later the mushrooms are gone, so I decided to toss raspberries in. They instantly started attacking the gate again.
How long does it take them to become tamed?

raspberry work great not sure about all shrooms or not, they used to eat red ones.

You need to place a workbench to keep the food from despawning.. I also think you have to stay in proximity to tame them. They won't tame if you are not around. Avoid open fires or they can just keep running around scared.

Haven't tried since H&H dropped but this was how it was before.

If you mouse over them close enough it should tell you tame percentage.

You dont need to toss food one at the time, you can toss entire stack and boars will sort it out themselves. Just sneak to them from behind the fence when they are calm, and you should see percentages on their heads

Proximity doesnt matter, just food and time. And workbench...

Proximity does matter. Animals will not tame if you are not around
