The Ritual movie monster Vs Valheim
I'm so confused. I just watched the movie the Ritual and I loved it. Unfortunately the mythology has me confused. In the movie the monster is an deer/elk/centaur like creature referred to as a bastard son of Loki, Jotunn, one of the Gods etc.. After reading reviews of the movie I read the creature based on a book and is called Modor. In Valheim, Modor is a dragon, and Eikthyr is deer/elk like. Which is it?

@Probitas I get the poetic licence part of it it for the game, I was looking more for the mythology behind the creature in the movie

It is called poetic license. If you want perfect symmetry with real stories, design your own game.

Moder is nothing real in the Mythology. So it can be based on "Moeder/Mother" like Rodos mentioned. Modor is not Moder, different spelling, different runes, different meaning.
But this is only speculating until someone with inside knowledge can verify it :)

Could it possibly relate to the meaning behind why she (and it) is called Modor? Because her name is technically moeder or "mother". (I should clarify I speak of the Mountain Boss here)

The simple answer is that Valheim isnt based 1 to 1 in norse mythology, but is loosely themed after it.
I also dont think there is any Yagluth, Bonemass or Elder-type creature in norse mythology.
