World of Warcraft style? That could work. Maybe do a fish eye lens projection thing to make it less obviously 2d.

Similar to how mirrors worked in early 3d games! So what's the trick to building an archway circular enough to match the portal?

hm... i have an idea - teleporter can make a screenshot of end location and send it to other end, where it will be shown with some visual effect, like waving or fog. No real portals needed, but it can be useful to see other side.

Ah, you added props behind the blank portals. I thought that you meant adding the entire world on the other side of a ready portal like in Valve's Portal games. Creative, and no massive framerate hit either.

Thanks!

I fooled some friends with this idea when they joined in an saw it, so I thought it would be fun to share. I think the real key to making it convincing is completely sealing off the teleporter so it looks like part of the wall. The diorama boxes from behind the portals are messy looking, but you don't see the mess from the other side.

I'm 100% vanilla.

if you were 100% vanilla, your teleporters wouldn't be showing what is on the other end.

If you read other posts, you'd see that its just a decorative facade behind the portals.

Modders started doing this to Minecraft portals a couple years back and it was amazing. Allowed for things like Stanley Paradox shenanigans and working reflective glass surfaces too.

Hell of an fps drain though, obviously. Probably not gonna see this until well after release and optimisation.
