wish this game didnt take forever to see content updates
since launch we got 2 content updates. I love the idea of this game and was one of the first games I bought when i got my pc, however 2 years later it fell short of expectations

a good game should take its time to be built. being an open game and adding the content as we play is a pretty nice bonus in my opinion. the game is being created by a small team of people and so far it seems to be a pretty amazing game for a couple of people, i dont see any of us creating a game or doing better. :D Taking that for granted. - playing angels advocate, ive enjoyed a good game, compared to most games today released TOO SOON or half assed, or not completed or fixed after. COD for one lol,

Aye, too many "Triple-A" titles these days should have spent a year or two in "Early Access". If nothing else, they tend to focus more on the hype machine and microtransactions than on QA, bugfixing, and actually compelling gameplay.

When I buy an Early access game I expect nothing but what they currently have. I will judge them on what they have right when I buy it. The game was just too much of a grind and too gimmicky and the play style they want you to play isn't really my style. They made the game way too linear and crafting way too slow. funny thing is adding content makes that problem worse, But I am really not that picky so the game was still overall fun but I was feeling ready to move on to another game by the time I finished exploring the mountain area.
The game was fun as is, I don't even care about any updates because I am done with it. Honestly I would of been fine with just having the first 3 zones.

This is the correct attitude to have; the Steam store page for every Early Access title says "This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development."

I'm gonna be honest here. It's a $20 dollar title in early access. It's not gonna be for everyone. I've been really happy with the experience. For me, I set a goal and grind for it. Kinda zen. But if that's not your thing... can't blame you. For me it's like minecraft but a little more grown-up. If that's not your thing, nothing wrong with that. But I paid my 20 bucks over a year ago, and I think I've got more than a night at the movies worth of enjoyment out of it (which often costs twice that).

Small Team they have made millions of dollar on this game why not hire a lot of people ?
Hiring more people isn't always a good thing in development. Also, the publisher made the money. How much Iron Gate gets, is between the publisher and Iron Gate.

I wish various EA game forums weren't filled with useless, entitled "why isn't my game finished" and "it's abandoned" and "it's a scam" posts but we can't always get what we want.

Well as Iron Gate didn't do the XBox port I doubt it had a significant effect on the PC development cycle?
It is interesting to see the different opinions on this subject. In my experience this game is moving at a pretty good pace through EA. Of course I play 7 Days to Die, that kind of skews my perspective.

I agree, the updates are very slow and I would have expected faster updates, but the reality is that it's a small team of people and they probably don't dedicate their lives to the game.
I am still happy that I got hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of a game that cost relatively little, and it still feels like a full game at the moment with all of the biomes and bosses. The extra things are like the cherry on top, if you think about it that way it's not as bad.

I do not think the small team made millions of dollars. Sadly they probably got the smallest cut of that money. Coffee Stain, and IronGate, Investors....... Tons of hands in that pie. If you think the people actually doing the coding got a majority of the sales you might want to look into that.
Also hiring more people for a game that is already been in development for more than 5 years will not make updates faster. I would argue that it would mess things up and actually make things slower.
And last, it has been more than 2 content updates.

Software development is kind of like cooking; doubling the number of chefs is not a good way to increase the rate of production. New coders have to get "up to speed" with the existing (spaghetti) codebase, have their incompatible habits and styles beaten out of them, and made to conform. Also, a lot of the integration process requires interacting with the existing team, meaning they're not getting anything done, either.
Doubling the number of carpenters is a good way to get a house built in two thirds of the initial timeframe... doubling the number of coders is a good way to have a 6-12 month productivity lapse.

Because it would not help, and what influence such would have would be negative. They did hire more team members not long after the game blew up; they got at least 2 coders, a full time graphic artist, and a community manager (I want to say they hired 5 people total, but I don't remember for sure). We're just now starting to see the fruits of that; it looks like the difficulty sliders are being primarily worked on by one of the "new" folks.
Just now. After having been hired back then. Consider the time frame, and understand that's a fairly standard lead-time for new hires in this sort of work. Did you* ever play that game in school/teambuilding at work, where there's a whole bunch of ropes and everybody's holding the end of two of them and you have to work together to get the knot untangled? Joining a coding project is a lot like that in the BEST of times.
A lot of folks really seriously misunderstand how the industry functions, especially in parts of the world where they actually take care of their employees and where the sweat shop conditions of the US are literally against the law.
High quality, healthy staff, fast production. You* only get to pick two. If one of those two isn't "healthy staff", you're* a selfish monster for seriously thinking your enjoyment matters more than their well being.
You COULD have all three, but then you have to add "prohibitively expensive" to the list also, and NOBODY wants them to do that. Except maybe the "I hate it when somebody else has fun" brigade who haunts this forum.
* - general you

It is the last EA game I bought and I will never buy another. It is in a playable state now and is a decent game . Its worth the money but lets not forget that awesome road map witch disappeared fast . I bought based on that road map. Live and learn.Finish the game so we can mod the hell out of it is my attitude.
