Science says no Rug Nerf
Stackable rug bonus = players content, sees value in their progression, keeps playing, spends another 1,000 hours arranging their viking castle.
Rug nerf = player upset, sees the value of their labor decreased, stops playing, spends another 1,000 hours playing another game.
I'm assuming that Irongate doesn't have a clinical psychologist on staff to tell them why behaviorally this reduction in perceived benefits will lead to frustration, and a change in behavior. But if they did, and they were providing that advice for free, instead of their normal rates: I'd listen.
Allow rugs to stack. It didn't break your game earlier, and it didn't break your game last Tuesday. What it has done is have me write two posts about it rather than enjoy my day off playing Valheim.

Thank you for the link. I'll be honest, it looks like a poor game design then. I have little hope that the comfort system will be as behaviorally reinforcing as it once was if this is the scheme they are following. Since my primary job in life is finding ways to motivate others, I can safely say, this ain't a good one. If they were going to pick one item and leave it stackable, then rugs would have been a good choice given the sheer variety of them in the game.

It's EA! Things change! And that was definitely a bug!
If you want consistency, play the game when it's finished with development.
In the final Version such changes do not happen!
It's always the same here....
1) Games that aren't in early access get updates all the time, nobody knows when a game isn't going to update - people thought Skyrim was done getting updates and here we are with Bethesda still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ things up 11 years later
2) Not everything has to change just because it's in early access
3) Just because something is unintended it doesn't mean it needs to be changed if it improves the player experience - skiing in Tribes was originally a bug but the developers had the ability to recognize "hey this is more fun for players let's keep it"
You're right, it is always the same - almost exclusively bad arguments

Basically it goes like this, they add something, it's too easy, so instead of actual challenge like better AI or Enemies or combat mechanics they add tedious grinding, gear gating, and just keep taking stuff away until it feels "hard" enough for them. I've seen it before and I'll see it again. This isn't a new thing. It's a red flag that the devs really don't know how to add fun challenging skill based content so they add challenge only way they know how. Making it take longer.
Without mods I think this game would have a tiny fraction of the current player base due to this simple fact.
I almost wish there wasn't mods, because the mods enable the devs to do nothing and still have the players and sales. If there were no mods they'd lose players and have to do something. The way it is, they won't. They'll make their little cult following grinding game and modders will fix it to make it playable for the rest of us.
Idk why the modders do it for free besides they get to enjoy the game, but they shouldn't have to, the devs and the company that's selling the game should have to, they're benefiting from the mods then ignoring the fact that they exist and that tons of people want these changes or at least the Option to make these changes.
It really seems like they're making the game for a small minority of hard core grinders that want to play this game forever. I don't think that'll be good for the future of the game. But what do I know. I'm just a player.

I personally like and do not like this change at the same time.
I like it because now i do not have a "color-mess" in my castle because i have to place ALL rugs to get maximum comfort.
And i also dislike it because nobody wants to lose "progression".
This change is no surprise to me because i already expected it. - Maybe thats the reason why i am not upset now.

Sorry but this is ********. In average about 3%-5% of the players use mods. - that is negligible ...

I don't understand why anyone would think it's good to remove progression. As said, what's the point in searching through dangerous areas for items, to then find they are pointless. New players will never bother looking for red jute or even lox skins. Why bother when a deer rug will do the same job? I don't spend much time looking at carpets, so the only reason they are there is for extra bonus.

You're delusional. Valheim + has over 800k downloads lol. 5%? You're telling me there's over 16 million players right now? Doubt.

The point is: If you only want a red rug, you are not forced to place a blue one too to get max comfort.

I'm sorry, do you have a link indicating it was a bug? Based upon their system of furniture stacking, it seems likely that it was not a bug, but an arbitrary change that was given little thought to how it might impact players.
There Is no system of furniture stacking. Chairs do not stack, only the one yielding the max comfort increase counts. It was clearly a bug especially based on the current behavior. Chairs, tables and other pieces do not stack.
I don't understand how, out of all the changes, this is the one people are offended by. It shows a complete ignorance of how things have been working so far with other items.

Sorry, but you are wrong. V+ has about 340k unique downloads. 15 million/340k = 2,2%
3%-5% is the average in ALL games.

Even if you go by unique downloads 350k about and let's be generous and say there's still a million players... and we know there isn't. That's quite a big chunk.
I don't have all the data so I can't say for sure, but the data I do have says most people play modded or a huge %. At least a 3rd, likely more.

They absolutely maxed out their master skills when it comes to fixing things that aren't broken. Started long ago with the food system in hearth and home... Stackable rug bonus = players content, sees value in their progression, keeps playing, spends another 1,000 hours arranging their viking castle.
Rug nerf = player upset, sees the value of their labor decreased, stops playing, spends another 1,000 hours playing another game.

I've generally been fine with the stamina changes and them tweaking the food system. I've adapted to each new system and I have never found my game play heavily influenced by their changes. This comfort change however hits hard as it's a direct reduction in player effort by changing the value of their time spent. Why did I spend so long searching out caves for red jute if I could get the same benefit from another rug? I guess I wasted my time.

Yes, you're correct. It's an EA. It's the time when players are supposed to provide feed-back. Thus far, as a clinical psychologist, I've had to provide very little because I've been happy with the game changes. This change was not well thought out and destroys the value of prior progression, thus motivating me to provide feed-back. This is the only game I've ever gotten my wife to enjoy with me beside Disco Eylsium. Trust me, I've got a good reason to want folks to keep enjoying it.
